ON MUSIC...

Abhyasi: Master does one play the violin without emotion?

A: But do you think the mission is increasing in Europe

ON the WEST (France)

THE EAST vs THE WEST

A: Samskaras?

One goes outward to meet one's pride, our desires, our attraction to material goods, and still more and more. In spirituality it is increasingly less and less. It seems simple that is why it is so difficult.

I slept in the water without feeling uncomfortable or unfortunate, and I slept well because I thought of my master. A: China and India are contributing a lot.

A: To be stronger

THE Chari SOLUTION

A: How to get there?

HOMOSEXUALITY AND AIDS

A: When will you go to Africa?

Abhyasi: Master comment jouer du violon sans émotion ?

A : Et si on prend des instruments d'orient pour jouer une musique
occidentale.

C : Vous allez gâcher la musique orientale. Chez nos flûtistes seul le squelette est là. Le squelette, et au dessus Dieu crée les gens, Jacky, cette fille, cette femme. Donc le squelette doit être là mais qu'est ce que vous avez, un morceau d'opéra, du Schuman, et le chef d'orchestre est important, mais qu'est ce qu'il fait en réalité, dites moi.

A : Pas grand-chose

C : Rien du tout. On n'a pas besoin de lui du tout. Et en plus il gagne plus d'argent que tout le monde. C'est de la comédie. La même musique composée par le même homme, avec deux chefs d'orchestres différents, l'un vend plus que l'autre, je ne sais pas. Guy est un bon musicien. Je
lui ai demandé quelle est la différence. Il a dit : mais Chariji celui-ci est tel chef d'orchestre. merveilleux merveilleux. Mon opinion est personnelle.

A : Mais vous dites que pour conduire un satsangh, on a besoin d'un chef d'orchestre

C : Ne voyez vous pas la différence ? .

C'est pour ça que je n'écoute pas de musique classique. Avant j'aimais ça mais c'est toujours la même chose. Je peux écouter un raga 50 fois et il est toujours différent. Un raga a une base mais c'est tout, pas de chef d'orchestre, C'est pour ça que le jazz n'est pas très populaire vous voyez, car avec le jazz on oublie les gens qui regardent, alors pourquoi pas la même chose avec l'opéra.

A : Parlez moi d'une musique qui élève l'âme.

C : Certaines musiques indiennes, ou pour les allemands, certains morceaux de Mozart. La musique doit venir de l'âme. Il y a la soi disant musique soufie on l'écoute et on s'endort. On ne sait pas ce que c'est que l'âme et on ne sait pas ce qu'est une musique qui vient de l'âme.

Que ce soit soufi ne signifie rien. Je peux faire hurler mon chien etles autres chiens penseront que c'est de la musique. Donc la musique n'est même pas un sujet dont on peut parler avec des occidentaux.

J'exprime des opinions très fortes quand je parle avec les abhyasis. Et même vos danses vous savez, elles ne sont pas naturelles.

A : On met des règles et des mathématiques partout.

C : Oui partout, beaucoup trop. Et pas assez d'âme, même en méditation. La nuit dernière je réfléchissais aux difficultés des occidentaux et aux facilités des orientaux. Je suis arrivé à une conclusion basée sur mes réflexions, dans le monde occidental vous avez des maîtres dans les
arts, l'artisanat, l'ingénierie, etc. toutes les choses externes. Vous avez des maîtres de tout, l'électricité, la plomberie, la musique, la cuisine. Elle est un cordon bleu. Vous ne vous rendez pas compte de l'importance des choses les unes par rapport aux autres. Est ce que la nourriture est si importante qu'un grand cuisinier est payé 20 000 euros par mois, c'est un non sens. A coté un scientifique ne sera payé que 10 000 euros par mois. Est-ce que ça montre l'importance réelle de chaque chose ? Schumacher, numéro 1, quel est son revenu, des millions de dollars par an. Il est comme un chien qui court en cercle derrière une chienne sans jamais arriver à la toucher. Et les joueurs de tennis, ils gagnent 10, 15, 20 millions, pourquoi ? Bien sur le tennis est
important, c'est bon pour le corps mais c'est tout. Dans le monde extérieur, il n'y a pas de relation entre ce qui est important et ce qui ne l'est pas vraiment, et en plus vous mélangez ce qui est vraiment important et ce qui est apparemment important, vous payez un joueur de tennis 30 millions et un professeur de science 3000 dollars. Et une bonne cuisinière parce que elle sait faire une sauce, bismillah, vraiment qu'est ce qu'une sauce, du chutney en Inde, on devrait payer
pour le chutney, pas pour la cuisinière. Donc vous voyez, tout est inversé en Europe et en occident. Vous avez trop de maîtres. En orient on ne s'occupe pas du monde extérieur, assez d'imbéciles le font pour nous. On va à l'intérieur, on est allés à l'intérieur toute notre vie
depuis des centaines d'années. C'est un monde très difficile. Ici on peut devenir un ingénieur, un banquier si on a l'éducation, mais peut être qu'il ne connaît pas la différence entre 10 euros et 1 euro car il utilise un ordinateur pour ça. Dans un milliard il y a combien de zéro ? 6. Mais ici on va calculer 1 puissance 3 égal 10 puissance 4, oh non est ce 6 ou 9 ? Donc en orient on a très peu de maîtres. Le monde intérieur n'est pas tangible, on ne peut pas le sentir. Vous avez trop de maîtres sur trop de sujets, y compris le tennis, le football. En orient il y a
seulement un sujet, mais c'est un sujet non seulement très difficile à comprendre mais aussi infini. Ici vous fabriquez une radio et vous faites quoi avec, vous l'écoutez, et c'est fini. Dans le monde intérieur il n'y a pas de fin, le maître continu et continu. Dans l'esprit occidental, vous avez l'habitude de commencer quelque chose et de le terminer, le début et la fin, lundi à vendredi, puis les vacances, en spiritualité il n'y a pas de vacances c'est toujours et tous les jours. Il n'y a pas de fin. D'où le livre de Babuji, vers l'infini.

A : Mais vous pensez que la mission augmente en Europe

C : Oui elle augmente parce que les gens capables de comprendre sont plus nombreux. Dans le monde matériel c'est facile. Mais dans le monde matériel aussi quand on va vers le plus petit, c'est infini, il y a les molécules, puis les atomes, les nucleus, les particules. Pour les trouver on a besoin de plus en plus grandes machines. Donc pour le moins on a besoin du plus. A l'intérieur pour obtenir plus, on a besoin de moins. De quoi a-t-on besoin, on doit éliminer toute notre attention extérieure sur les filles, la nourriture, Dieu. et tout réduire pour arriver à une seule attention, l'intérieur, et voilà. Donc vous voyez il y a trop de maîtres du monde extérieur, tout y est tangible, peut être touché, senti. Dans le monde spirituel, c'est toujours moins, et moins, et moins. On ne sait pas combien on progresse, où on commence et où on finit.

A : C'est difficile de vous suivre car on doit vivre dans ce monde et y gagner de l'argent

C : Non non ce n'est pas difficile pour vous, c'est difficile pour moi. Vous venez vous méditez et vous dites Chari ne sert à rien, depuis 20 ans qu'il vient je n'ai pas changé. .Mais ce n'est pas ma faute, est ce que c'est ma faute ?

C'est votre faute car vous gaspillez toute votre énergie à faire de la musique. Je ne jouerai peut être pas aussi bien que vous mais en trois jours je peux jouer quelque chose. Qu'est ce que vous pouvez faire en méditation ? Vous n'êtes capables que de maîtriser le monde extérieur, et vous ne savez pas quoi faire avec votre monde intérieur. Vous ne voulez pas obéir au maître, vous dites que vous êtes libres, la France est le pays de la liberté, égalité, fraternité. La liberté de faire ce qui est mauvais, de ne pas être disciplinés, de se marier de nombreuses fois, d'avoir beaucoup d'aventures sentimentales. Et quelle égalité, vous avez tuée une reine car elle était née comme ça, vous l'avez assassinée, et vous en faites une célébration annuelle avec le 14 juillet. La fierté des français, voilà votre liberté, égalité, fraternité. Et pauvre Marie Antoinette, tuée. C'est votre idée de l'égalité et de la fraternité. Et la fraternité existe quand il y a du vin à boire et que vous êtes souls. Vous ne pouvez pas avoir cette sorte de liberté égalité et fraternité en spiritualité. En spiritualité il y a seulement une seule égalité, l'âme. Elle est toujours la même et elle est immortelle, éternelle, et chaque âme est égale à une autre. Mais vous voulez l'égalité physique.

La liberté de l'âme est éternelle. Mon âme est emprisonnée dans mon corps et ce corps a 5 sens, il veut embrasser, toucher, faire tellement de choses, manger ; boire. Et la liberté des français leur dit qu'ils peuvent boire, Chari. Ok buvez exercez votre liberté et vous allez venir et revenir et revenir, jusqu'à ce que vous compreniez que ce n'est pas une vraie liberté. Ce sont vos désirs qui vous font revenir ce n'est pas Dieu. Trop de désirs passent du corps dans l'âme, ou plutôt dans le fantôme qui reste dans le coin à chercher des pizzas ou autre chose. Et même si le corps est mort, le fantôme continue à vouloir de la pizza. Et il frappe à toutes les pizzerias qui ferment leurs portes à doubles tours Enfin un prêtre vient, et si le prêtre est capable ça marche.

Babuji disait choisissez un maître qui connaît son travail et quand vous le trouvez, attachez vous à lui car vous êtes l'idiot qui risque de laisser tout tomber, ce n'est pas le maître qui vous laissera tomber.

A : Alors si je suis vraiment centré, rien dans ma vie ne va me toucher?

C : Rien. C'est la différence entre l'orient et l'occident. Ici il y a trop de maîtres. Une personne a fait un cours de 3 jours pour apprendre le raiki et elle vient me voir pour essayer de me guérir. Elle veut me guérir avec un cours de trois jours. Vous avez des cours de quelques jours ou quelques semaines. Quand j'étais un garçon, je voulais faire du yoga. On ne m'a pas laissé entrer car toutes les filles étaient en collant et c'était hors de prix. Mais je savais instinctivement que je
devais faire quelque chose en rapport avec le yoga. Pour devenir capable de vraiment réussir à méditer, oubliez vos idées occidentales sur les capacités, les diplômes, les maîtres. Vous ne serez pas un maître charpentier, mais un maître qui était avant aussi un charpentier.

Mais vous allez me faire croire qu'un maître charpentier est aussi un maître en méditation ? On peut tout assurer mais on ne peut pas assurer le cerveau d'un homme brillant. On ne peut pas assurer la spiritualité d'un homme. Quand vous allez à Paris, il y a tellement de rues et
d'avenues nommées d'après les généraux de Napoléon. Vous glorifiez la guerre. Où sont les vieux philosophes, je ne sais pas si ils existent, ou alors ils nomment un stade de sport quelque part.

Donc en spiritualité il faut se débarrasser de tout. Voilà ce que je devais vous dire aujourd'hui, toutes ces pensées que j'ai. Pourquoi l'est et l'ouest sont si différents ? La différence est dans le cour, pas dans le cerveau. La même âme, le même cour, on ne doit pas avoir un cour oriental ou occidental, mais un cour aimant. Pourquoi l'est et l'ouest ne se rejoignent ils pas ?

A : Samskaras ?

C : Non c'est comme de dire pourquoi il est noir ou il est blanc, samskaras, ce n'est pas ça. C'est la qualité du cour. On fabrique chacun notre univers qui est un univers de fantaisie, et on y vit et y est heureux. Il y a un film très beau sur une femme qui emmène ses deux enfants à l'école, et tout le monde meurt. Le mari va en enfer pour en ramener sa famille. Et il trouve sa femme vivant heureuse dans une belle maison au fond de l'enfer et il a le plus grand mal à l'en faire repartir. Ca c'est l'amour. Babuji disait qu'on a tellement a apprendre sur les qualités de la vie mais un moment il faut aller au fond de l'enfer pour pouvoir en ressortir. Si un homme monte sur un arbre et ne peut pas redescendre, il peut sauter. Mais si il y a un précipice de
trois cent mètres et quelqu'un tombe, ce sera très difficile d'aller le chercher. Donc aller en enfer demande un maître. Et un amour total pour l'autre. Dans cette société on ne pense qu'au résultat de sa production, un stylo, une auto, une performance, l'apparence, le confort, la meilleure voiture pour le meilleur patron, et on oublie le cour. On va vers l'extérieur pour satisfaire note fierté, nos désirs, notre attraction pour les biens matériels, toujours plus et toujours plus. En spiritualité c'est toujours plus de moins et de moins.

Ca parait simple c'est pourquoi c'est si difficile.

Ca suffit pour aujourd'hui. Merci d'être venus avec ce mauvais temps, cette pluie. A mon époque avec mon maître à Shahjahanpur, il pleuvait toujours. Je dormais dans l'eau sans me sentir inconfortable ni malheureux, et je dormais bien car je pensais à mon maître Ici il faut des matelas épais, et une de vos plus belles histoires est celle de la princesse au petit pois. Avec un petit pois sous 7 matelas elle ne pouvait pas dormir. Qu'est ce qui va se passer quand elle dormira avec un mari qui la tape de ses genoux et coudes dans son sommeil, et a mauvaise haleine. Je ne sais pas comment les femmes européennes dorment avec leurs maris car la plupart ont mauvaise haleine. J'ai peur quand les gens viennent me parler, je tourne la tête, je dis la vérité. L'attachement est dans la tête, l'amour est dans le cour. J'aime cet arbre mais je ne vais pas le couper et l'apporter à Madras. Ma connaissance du monde matériel me dit que si c'est une chose vivante, je
ne dois pas le prendre. Je ne peux prendre que des choses mortes. Je peux prendre un bâton, mais pas un chien ou un oiseau qui chante, il ne chantera pas dans une cage. On doit se conduire comme si on était mort pour ce monde. Ce monde appartient à Dieu, pas à nous. Si vous vous
souvenez de ça vous ne ferez pas de mal à la nature. Guy a un jardinier pour 300 euros par mois pour s'occuper de son jardin. Mais ce monde peut prendre soin de lui-même. J'ai lu un livre d'un philosophe allemand. Et sur la première page il y a 4 lignes, le nom de la plus haute montagne de (il nomme un endroit), tous les hommes peuvent tenir dans une valise d'un kilomètre carré, la valise est mise en haut de la montagne, on la pousse, et l'herbe de la vallée devient verte pour toujours. La nature peut prendre soin d'elle-même. La nature prend soin de nous. Dans les védas, il y a des poèmes, puisse toute chose prospérer, l'herbe, les oiseaux, les fleurs, la jungle, et c'est le premier vers que l'on a sur l'écologie de la nature, et cela s'applique à notre vie. On souffre car nos rivières et nos océans sont pollués, l'air est pollué, par qui ? Les occidentaux.

A : la Chine et l'Inde y contribuent beaucoup.

C : Non ce n'est que de la fumée. Le plus gros polluant de l'air sont les sprays, les aérosols. Et chaque année il y a des résolutions pour les stopper mais toujours dans quelques années, ils repoussent toujours les dates, maintenant ils disent qu'ils vont arrêter en 2010 mais en 2009 ils diront 2050. Le seul but est de faire de l'argent qu'ils donnent aux politiciens, les politiciens donnent aux voteurs. On ne veut plus tuer les baleines mais le Japon continue et envoie balader tout le monde. Pourquoi l'Amérique ne tire pas sur les bateaux pécheurs de baleines ? Ils vont bien en Afghanistan, en Irak, seulement parce qu'ils veulent le pétrole. Leur politique est seulement basée sur leur intérêt. Pourquoi l'Europe est elle unie ?

A : Pour être plus forts

C : Pour être plus forts militairement et politiquement. C'est pourquoi de nombreux pays n'ont pas confiance. Ce n'est pas pour la liberté ni l'égalité, c'est pour l'intérêt personnel. Les gens continuent à se détester. Le Danemark a gardé sa monnaie, l'Angleterre aussi. C'est pareil avec les gens, il aime les lèvres de cette fille qu'il va embrasser et l'autre aime son nez. Dans les films on voit une fille parfaite, et les garçons veulent une fille comme ça. En réalité les jambes appartiennent à une autre fille et c'est du montage. Chaque partie de la fille est d'une fille différente. Ce n'est pas du tout la réalité. On vit une vie matérielle remplie de richesses matérielles, une belle lampe, de beaux rideaux, des matelas, et dans le cour, rien, on ne
dort pas, on prend de plus en plus de pilules. Peut être que dans 20 ans un homme d'affaire achètera cette maison et détruira le jardin. Les arbres ont mis 350 ans à pousser et tout peut être coupé en 35 minutes.

Et personne ne dira que ces arbres étaient beaux car il vendra tout ça en appartements, et gagnera 30 millions d'euros. Quelle importance on ces arbres. L'occident doit abandonner sa vie matérielle et ses attachements, car on peut mener une vie agréable mais l'attachement doit partir.

A : Comment y arriver ?

C : C'est très facile. D'abord arrêtez de demandez comment s'appellent les choses. C'est quoi ? Une crêpe. Oh une crêpe, très impressionnant. Quelle pizza est ce ? Champignons. Escargots, Grenouilles. On se met à aimer le nom et non la chose. Un homme goûte le vin et décide du prix.

Du beaujolais, 60 euros la bouteille, rhum 27 euros la bouteille, c'est toujours de l'alcool. Du beaujolais de 1967, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh 3000 euros la bouteille. Quelqu'un a gagné dans une vente aux enchères un des vins les plus vieux pour 2 millions de dollars. Je ne sais pas si ils l'ont bu ou si ils l'ont gardé pour 2000 ans de plus ou pour le revendre. Les choses de valeur ne sont jamais utilisées. Récemment ils ont vendu aux enchères un diamant chez Christies au prix le plus élevé jamais payé pour un diamant. Un jour j'ai voulu aller comme Vivekananda faire une randonnée à pied pendant un mois seul. J'ai raconté ça à Babuji, je veux prendre 5 roupies et partir pour un mois, il s'est moqué de moi, prends le train. Babuji a coupé ce désir. Je ne suis jamais parti, j'ai
eu peur.

A: Et l'attachement vis-à-vis des gens ?

C : Babuji a dit qu'il n'y a pas d'amour entre les gens. Il y a seulement de la dépendance, de l'amitié, de l'attachement. Rien d'autre. Dire qu'on aime sa femme est un mensonge. Si vous aimiez vos femmes il n'y aurait pas de divorces. On ne peut pas apprendre aux gens à aimer.
On peut leur apprendre à faire l'amour mais ça devrait être naturel. Un jour j'ai eu une longue discussion avec un couple marié d'une religion que je ne veux pas nommer, et l'homme m'a demandé ce que mon maître dit qui n'est pas déjà dans le livre de sa religion. J'ai demandé de quoi parlait son livre. Il a dit tout, tout sur la vie, y compris comment faire l'amour. J'ai dit monsieur, vous avez besoin d'un prophète pour ça. Il a rougit. La philosophie est dans les livres, pas dans la vie. Il y a tellement de philosophes qui sont devenus fous. En orient ce n'est
pas possible qu'un philosophe devienne fou. Car un maître ne peut pas se suicider ni devenir fou.

A : Quand irez vous en Afrique ?

C : Pourquoi vous voulez que j'aille en Afrique. Je travaille en fonction des ordres que je reçois de mon maître Si il dit va en France je viens ici. Si il dit pourquoi passez vous trois jours à bien manger avec Guy, c'est fini je pars. J'étais avec Babuji à Rome, au Vatican et l'ancien pape était là. Un vieil homme très malade, très fatigué, il bénissait les gens en trois langues, et finalement il a dit quelque chose qui a mis beaucoup de gens en colère, il a dit qu'il va faire une
prière spéciale pour les gens qui ont le sida. J'étais en colère, j'ai dit pourquoi le sida ? Pourquoi pas le diabète ou les jambes cassées, et non le sida qui est une maladie qui ne devrait pas être acceptée ni tolérée d'aucune manière. Beaucoup d'abhyasis m'ont dit que je n'avais
pas de cour quand je dis ça. J'ai dit tant pis je n'ai pas de cour car si j'avais un cour je ne pourrais pas travailler. Au début de ma vie spirituelle j'ai donné mon cour à mon maître Et maintenant je peux seulement travailler avec ma tête. Si il dit pas de sitting je ne donne pas de sitting, je dois obéir aux ordres vous savez. Quand j'ai raconté à Babuji quelle était la prière du pape il était aussi surpris. Les leaders religieux peuvent prier pour un groupe spécifique. En Inde notre
prière est « puissent tous être heureux et en bonne santé partout ». On ne prie pas pour les blancs, les africains les chinois. ce n'est pas comme ça. Puissent tous les gens être heureux partout.

The first part has been published while Babuji was still alive, but he opposed the publication of the second part. S.P. Srivastava decided to publish the second part after his death, in reaction to the version published by Chari and the SRCM (California).

p56 - Comment added by Babuji to his journal entry of the 17th January 1929 : "The ego gives you strength for all the work. It points out to you that you have got the power to do a certain thing. But we identify ego with the body, instead of with the soul. It is the production of God which you cannot annihilate. You should modify it."

p73 - 15th August 1929 "There, a great Muslim divine was present along with another Saint and a personage. I did not recognize that personage. The great Muslim divine asked that personage to inspect my backbone. So my shirt was removed and the inspection was made. He seemed to be pleased with me. He remarked that the condition was very good, and there was some hint regarding the emotion of love which I bore for my Guru. He directed me to request the Mahatmaji Maharaj to pay special attention and to give special instruction to my humble self. I intimated Revered Lalaji Saheb accordingly. He also asked me to keep him informed regarding my condition. What he meant at that time seemed to me as if my humble self had been ordered by him to look towards him also."

p117 - 10th March 1930 "Dreamt in the night that I was escorting my elder aunt to Lucknow. (...) From there I reached Kanpur. (...) On the same night, my wife dreamt that I had come back from Kanpur, had been attacked by a cow, and that I was dead."

17th December 1930 "Dreamt in the night that I went to Mecca. (...) I moved forward to the place where the shrine of Hazrat Mohammad is located. The shrine was totally red in colour. The grave assumed the shape of Hazrat Mohammad, and it seemed as if he was reclining. Smiling he remarked that my condition was very subtle and he blessed me to attain betterment (...)."

Brother Ram Chandra undoubtedly has ability and agility in this respect, but I am sorry that due to the restrictions, of his father, norrowness of heart and space, and intricacies of his home my sagacity did not permit me for the time being to throw the responsability on him."

After same time I offered meals to the saint and I also partook of it with him. My mother was witnessing this. I withdrew my hand from the food so that she might not think that I had become converted."

"The first entry in this second part of Revered Babuji's Autobiography is on 10-5-1944. This is preceded by a printed pamphlet or appeal in Urdu, in the name of ‘a servant of Revered Lalaji Saheb, belonging to Shahjahanpur’, and was issued by Shri Madan Mohan Lal, who was the recognized preceptor of the system of Yogic training at Shahjahanpur, as propounded by and practised under the guidance of the Grand Master, and His real brother Shri Raghubar Dayal Ji of Kanpur, known as Chachaji or respected uncle."

p. ii "The diary was submitted occasionally (generally once a month) with a short or long covering letter to Grand Master. There was only half a dozen letters (including one to the old preceptor Shri Madan Mohan Lal of Shahjahanpur) in reply from the Grand Master - the first dated 21-11-1929 (...) and the last rather long one dated 10-3-1931, five month before His physical veiling on 14/15-8-1931."

Mission, at the end of June, 1982, Revered Babuji told me that He had cursorily looked into the [English] translation [original diaries in Urdu], submitted to Him, and decided that it was not to be published unless I approved it after going thoroughly through it. In the meeting also, brothers Sarnad and Raizada informed me of Revered Master's decision, desiring me to do the needful as early as possible. I told them that I would need time to go through it thoroughly.

Then Revered Shri Babuji went to and returned from Paris; and passed out of His physical existence after a prolonged illness of about eight months.

Thereafter I obtained a copy of that translation from brother J. R. K. Raizada, Secretary to the President, and Superintendent of the Publication Department, of S. R. C. Mission, Shahjahanpur, at the time; and went through it during my first visit to Europe (September-October, 1983). On return to India, I requested the family of Revered Master to make the Urdu manuscript accessible to me, to which request they acceded. On going through the diaries in the original, the translation appeared to me very inadequate and rather jejune.

Perhaps, it was prepared for publication during the life-time of the author, omitting such contents as were considered unsuitable to be brought to light for one or the other reason. To me personally, however, it appeared unjust and unreasonable to drop out about eighty percent of the material, even as a posthumous publication. Some aspects which were rather mystical or capable of arousing some controversies, may probably be held back. When, however, the translation under reference was published from Madras, without making any reference to me, in contravention of the express instructions of Revered Shri Babuji after having a cursory glance through that translation, I was left with no choice or judgement of my own to drop out some portions in my new translation of the text of the manuscript. I felt somewhat disinclined to the point of even disgust at the developping circumstances. However, there cannot be two opinions or attitudes for me in the matter of attachment or discharge of responsability to Revered Shri Babuji. (...) In consequence, the manuscript of the diaries is coming to be translated and published, as it is, without curtailment, except where expressly prohibited, with occasional notes and explanation, in case of need to make the meaning clear. The publication of the entire text is bound to take its own time (...).”

p. xvi. "Part Two of the Autobiography of Revered Shri Babuji starts about a little less (a few months) than thirteen years after the physical passing away of Shri Babuji's spiritual guide and Master (...). During this period of about thirteen years inner training for the work ahead, as well as some work in a sort of dormant oblivious state went on. In the first place Shri Babuji's intercommunication with His Master beyond material limitations continued, even though its open external expression remained suspended for certain practical considerations. Some persons, physically and socially close to Revered Lalaji, had claimed to be His representative and successor, and they were trying somewhat deliberately to harm and even do away with the physical existence of Grand Master's real representative in every possible way, including the use of certain spiritual techniques. Some other quite well advanced disciples of the Grand Master, being averse to the false claims due to obvious lack of real effect, had started setting up organisations more or less in allegiance to the Grand Master, but centred mainly around these so-called advanced disciples as visible personalities to guide the multitudes attached to them on the age-old path of spirituality, as brought to them by the Grand Master, who had passed out of physical existence on August 14/15 (midnight), 1931. The visible work of Revered Babuji started taking concrete shape in the summer season of 1944."

"About you, he had the hint that there was possibility of you clash with him sometime. He did not like you coming to me. When all other means were unsuccessful, prayers were offered to your Revered Grand Master that you may be kept devoid of spiritual progress. This was very much disliked by Him and this became the cause of His displeasure. An attempt was made for cancellation of your initiation; and stories were narrated to you. Action against him had to be taken in accordance with the permission of the Grand Master. Do go to His Samadhi, when conveninent. (...) You were induced through thought to sexual indulgence. Where there was no success by any means, images of naked women were thrust into your heart. (...) A woman and you were taken in thought, as copulating, so that you commit such act. This was his last attempt to degrade you. (...) He tried so much to pull you down, and it never occurred to his mind that God's will alone triumphs ultimately. The matters have been brought to your knowledge, so that you may not be moved to feel mercy."

pp. 9-10 19th May 1944 "I shall feel relief when you shall take over the responsability.(...) When your diary was put forth for publication, your name was excluded from it. (...) They were apprehensive that people may become inclined to you, and they may lose their source of livelihood."

"I kept you concealed in my heart, and did not let anybody suspect it. Only R got and has the idea, because he was connected to my state (...). I had consideration for his poverty, and hence structured a status for him. So he started living like a man of status. Greed was increased and God was totally forgotten. (...) At R's place money was wasted for pleasure and luxury. (...) There was no consideration for the poor. Rich people were given consideration."

p12 20th May 1944 "Somebody may shower thousands of abuse on you, but you have to tolerate that. This means that if someone abuses you, you can also abuse in return, and even hit back and strike, but never wish anything ill for that person from your heart (...) If occasion demands, there is no harm even in having an armed conflict. (...) To give protection to an innocent victim of tyrany is duty. You have to take out the sword at the hour of need, even then there is nothing wrong."

22 May 1944 p.18 "My Revered Master was the best example of courage. Now I am getting aside; and He Himself will instruct you. I have obtained His promise from Him. Now treat Him as all in all. He alone shall help you. I am merged in you; and hence remain dependent on Him alone in every matter. He loves you. The recommandation for your training came first from Him; and this had come during my life-time itself."

The other group is far better than these. Your third or fourth generation will be assigned just this work; but he will not be able to complete the work in his lifetime. Thereafter a Special Personality shall emerge and complete this work. Materialism will increase."

18 August 1944 pp 175-176 - Lalji's dictation to Babuji "Take the example of people starting to offer flowers to my photograph and decking it with garlands, or your clerck starting to worship the wooden footwear of his guru. These examples fall under the category of slavish animal-worship. In fact, the attachment does not remain oriented to that, whose shadow or symbol is taken as concrete object; and Reality goes out of view. With passage of time, worship of just such concrete objects come into vogue. Discriminative capacity is that when the current that connects Master and devotee is attempted to be comprehended. This is the crux matter. This constitute the definition of the refined form of discrimination. Everything else is subordinate to this."

Sure enough, the original sermon persisted in the memory; and to whomsoever the message had to be delivered, just this thing was communicated (...). Now the herd is assembled. 'Just see brother, what is the number on the list!' This is found out; and some estimate is formed from the collection of monney that the number is still short of the requirement for the fulfilment of their personal needs. Now, what is the position! The guide has forgotten spirituality; and remains worried just about this number of disciples and the amount of collections. The disciples had already listened to the sermon concerning Master's pleasure; and they remained yoked to their duty very sincerely and actively. Now anxiety is created further, viz. the disciples who have managed and maintained the Guru's pleasure, should also be kept pleased by the Guru, so that they would not run away (...).Just this is the condition of the assembly of spiritual associates. Put it bare before them.(...) O God, such things may never occur in my progeny; and if per chance, these would have crept in, these be washed away!"

OPEN LETTER TO NAVNEET KUMAR SAXENA

Dear Navneet,

fine, that you are healthy and “in station” again. So, maybe, we can ask you some questions (or repeat some unanswered questions).

1. Y O U R D E C I S I O N IN ANSWER TO THE JUDGEMENT CONCERNING CIVIL APPEAL NO. 6619 OF 2000 (Supreme Court) should be given to the public. The Court decided that the decision of case of 2007 has to be done latest in 6 months. Will you take any legal activities of a so-called interim protection?

If you do, of what type will they be?

[The judgement of the Supreme Court for the case of the year 2000 says
“.....So far as ORIGINAL SUIT NO. 7359 OF 1989 is concerned, the findings recorded in the judgment therein could have constituted res judicata but the fact remains that the appellate court permitted the WITHDRAWAL OF THE SUIT and once the suit has been permitted to be WITHDRAWN all the proceedings taken therein including the judgment passed by the trial court have been wiped out. A judgment given in a suit which has been permitted to be withdrawn with the liberty of filing a fresh suit on the same cause of action CANNOT CONSTITUTE RES JUDICATE IN A SUBSEQUENT SUIT FILED PURSUANT to such permission of the court.

.... It would be appropriate to direct that THE PENDING SUIT [02/2007 HIGH COURT] shall be decided within a period of six months...

...It is open to the parties to move for such INTERIM PROTECTION ....”]

5. For what was BABUJI’S NEED TO TAKE CARE OF HIS TRANSMISSION when (like others, too, do) he believed that he will never die?

Do you wish to draw people’s attention to the fact, that the quotation "...I have never claimed to be a MASTER..it is unfortunate that some people..are addressing me by that term....So in fact, the purpose of my talk is to request all of you to stop addressing me as Master” originated in the time before 1988 (it was first published in 1988), which means about 20 years back?

7. Would you agree, if your grandfather Ram Chandra of Shajahanpur was the - ONLY - GURU OF SRCM, then SRCM wasn‘t created in honor of Ram Chandra of Fategarh and there will be no sucessor in future, too?

8. Do you know, that many (“very normal” people, not so- called special personalities) know the exact time when they will die, that others know that they will be killed? - My question is, HOW LIVED your grandfather his life knowing that there will be an attempt on his life and how did he deal with the question of death?

[A B: “Out of his explanations it seems to me stated, too, that Babuji (the special personality) seemed to be unable to find out W H O tried to make an attempt on his life.”

N a v n e e t K u m a r: Babuji did know that the attempt was being made on his life. His last letter clearly states so too. [The question again is: WHO?] He also predicted his long hospitalization, which also was true as we know that Babuji was in hospital from September soon after coming back from Paris to April 19th 1983 (The day of his Mahasamadhi. Moreover, as pointed by A old abhyasi about my Aunty stating B a b u j i ’s r e q u e s t o f F I R before leaving to Paris also clearly states that Babuji knew what the future had store for him.]

You allow me to tell the story of a well-known man in this context,
the story of the Sufi master Mansoor Hillaj.

It is said that Mansoor al Hillaj’s way to be killed was the worst ever done up to then. First his legs were cut off, then his hands were cut. He was alive. Then his tongue was cut, then his eyes were taken out. He was still alive. He was cut in pieces.
What crime had he done?
He had said, “An’al Haq.” (“I am the Truth. I am God.”)
The Seers of the Upanishads declare, “Aham Brahmasmi.” (“I am the Brahma, the Supreme Self.”)

The people couldn’t tolerante somebody saying this.
It is said when they cut Mansoor in peaces he looked to the sky and prayed to God and said, “You cannot deceive me! I can see you in everybody present here.
You are trying to deceive me? You have come as a the murderer?
I tell you in whatever form you come, I will recognize you, because I have recognized you in myself.”

And I’d like to direct your attention to the following text: “My Master had been seriously ill in the early part of the year 1974, and had to be finally hospitalised in Lucknow, where he lay in deep coma for almost one month. In view of his advanced age - he being 75 years old then - there were deep, though unexpressed, fears that the end may not be long. It was much of a miracle to most of us when he regained consciousness, and then went on to regain health.

It was my privilege to have been with him for part of the time he was hospitalised. I also went to Shahjahanpur after he was discharged from the hospital in Lucknow, and stayed with him for many days till he was relatively in better health, after his month of long ordeal. It was then that he revealed to me that he had chosen me to be his spiritual represantive, to eventually succeed him as the President of the Mission, whenever this became necessary. Those were, for me, very moving days, driving me to tears from moment to moment. Those were the blessed days when his gentle and deeply abiding love flowed upon me, over me, like a spring drizzle under blazing sunshine. Those were also the days of the most personal intimacy between us, when there seemed to be nothing at all between us, exept our two identities. It was as if he had removed all barriers between ourselves, and we were blissfully together in a oneness that would perhaps be difficult to experience later.

It was a time of the greatest happiness for me, and, rather surprisingly, the time of the greatest sorrow for me too, for it was then that I had to face the certain knowledge that one day my beloved would leave me to go into the brighter World. This knowledge almost broke my heart. He could of course divine it at a glance, and he would gently chide me for such thoughts, saying ‘I shall be with you for many more years. Do not worry about it now. Mrs . Davies told me that I shall live till 2006 or 2007, and others have told me the same thing. So don’t cry now. I shall be with you for a long time. Nawneet Kumar, I see that you give second-hand informations to the auditory , which - generally - in most cases are unreliable, although there may be some truth in them. And I see, that we speek different languages (see 3.).

About the time of death of your grandfather you said

“My father had gone to America for his treatment, after attending the paris function. He came to know of Babuji’s illness and that he had been taken to hospital. [First of all: Your father could afford to go for to U. S. for medical Treatment, this in the year 1983. I know Indians (professors, physicians, I don’t speak about poor people) who - in 2008 - say they can’t afford to go to a Western country. And I remember having read somewhere that the father of the same person, Babuji, told, that he couldn’t afford to drink milk, this in the days when the first visitors came to his home. (Somewhere I read that his trips to the West were paid by Western (Danish?) abhyasis.) I am surprised about what you tell here about about a medical treatment of your father. (But this isn’t the most important aspect of the discussion here.] The question is: WHERE was your father when Babuji DIED? WHO was with Babuji when he DIED?

I have nobody to ask for permission to write on this or any other blog. I can’t agree with the intentions behind SOME BLOGS and some comments. New episode in the battle between the SRCM ® the SRCM of Shahjahanpur…

Chari is angry!

On 29 April, the eve of the anniversary of Babuji, the Supreme Court of India made its judgement in the case between Chariji and SRCM ® Navneet Kumar Saxena (grandson of Babuji and son of Umesh Chandra Saxena) and SRCM (Shahjahanpur).

Navneet released the judgement on Tell me Truth India site on May 3, and Chari has cancelled most of his travel plans in Europe at the same date. We are told that it was not for health reasons. Should we see a causal link between the judgement and the cancellation of the trip of Chari?

Navneet said that the consequences of this Supreme Court of India decision are contained in the last lines of item 4:

" Now, it only means elected by implication and that to be read in the line of Section 3(A) and 4 proviso, it is pointed out that Section 25(2) refers to election and the remedy to challenge. If there is no remedy nobody is left remedyless. Alternatively, it is submitted that assuming it is to be done by nomination, P. Rajgopalachari could have been nominated, but it has been annulled on 16.4.1982 as Umesh Chandra Saxena remains nominated. It is pointed out that role as President of the Sahaj Marg system is different. The application filed by Sh. Rajgopalachari has to be tested as per clause 3(b), these were not challenged and Rajgopalchari cannot have nay role to play. P.Rajgopalachari could not have been nominated because he is not in the direct line of succession. In any event, after passing of order dated 16.4.1982 he has no role to play. The working committee's decision, resolution of the General Body all are of similar effect. The stand is strongly opposed by the respondent to say that nomination were not merely in respect of the Sahaj Marg system system but it was in respect of President itself."

Then, Navneet added this comment: "At last Chari, Uma Shankar Bajpai and 6 others have been chargesheeted for the criminal offence of tresspassing into the Ashram on 2nd June 2006. Their non-bailable warrants are being issued for the same from the lower court three days back."

Is Chari going to appeal it? In any case, he seems very unhappy about this turn of events. Having maintained the inauguration of the ashram of Milan, his passage at Vrads (Castle) then his return via Dubai, it is announced May 7th, that he will not go to Milan neither! For health reasons this time…

1. Challenge in this appeal is to the judgment of a Division Bench of the Allahabad High Court. By a common judgment several civil appeals were heard together and disposed of. A common link in all these appeals was the decision of a religious cum Philanthropic Society named Sh. Ram Chandra Mission. It was established by a late Sh. Ram Chandra Ji Maharajan and on his death disputes arose. The disputes essentially relate to spiritual heirship to control the affairs of the mission. Series of litigation was resulted and the four special leaves before the High Court were summed up and by the impugned order the High Court held that all the four appeals were to be dismissed. Before the Division Bench orders of learned Single Judge were challenged. The relief sought for were categorized under five heads.

1. Grant of letters of administration in favour of Sri U.C. Saxena in respect of the properties of Sri Ram Chandra Mission through out India and abroad.
2. Declaration and Sri Umesh Chandra Saxena was the President of the Mission and the second petitioner was the Secretary thereof.
3. An interim grant during pendency of the application.
4. In the alternative appointment of a receiver in respect of the entire estate of deceased Sr. Ram Chandra Mission, and
5. Any other relief.

2. The special leaves were filed by Umesh Chandra Saxena and others, Uma Shankar and Another, the present appellants and another. Special leave by the Umesh Chandra Saxena and Anr. Sri. P. Rajagopalichari were the respondent while in the first special leave by Umesh Chandra Saxena and Anr. The Administrative General, U.P. Allahabad and others were the parties.

3. Background facts as highlighted by the appellant in this appeal are as follows:Sh. Ram Chandra Mission-Society was registered, established and founded by Maharaj, Shri Ram Chandra Ji Maharaj with its constitution, bye laws and Memorandum of Society on 21.7.1995. Purportedly there was a covering letter to the intimation dated 23.3.1974 alleged to have been executed by the founder in favour of respondent P. Rajagopalachari. This intimation according to the appellant was the result of manipulation and fraud. The nomination was declared him to be the president of society and clearly stated that he shall work for the Mission and he is "President of Sahaj Marga System". On 16.4.1982 nomination was executed in favour of Shri Umesh Chandra Saxena as spiritual representative in the direct line of succession and he was nominated as the successor or President under Rules 3 and 4 of the registered constitution, bye laws of the society. The nomination/declaration clearly stated that the previous nomination if any made by the founder stand superseded and cancelled. Founder - Shri Ram Chandraji Maharaj breathed his last on 19.4.983. On 4.1.1984 a civil suit was filed by three members of the Society in the Court of Civil Judge, Shahjanpur who granted ex-parte injunction restraining P. Rajgopalachari from acting as President. On 6.2.1984 and 7.2.1984 working Committee meeting was held at head quarters and after perusal of booklet Sh. U.C. Saxena was declared as a successor or President and also the spiritual representation in the direct line of succession on the basis of nomination of 16.4.1982. The claim of P. Rajgopalachari based on the alleged nomination dated 23.3.1994 was treated as rejected. On 8.2.1984 General Body was held at the head quarter of the Society and the claim of Sh. Umesh Chandra Saxena was approved and he was declared as spiritual representative in the direct line of succession and also as the successor or President of the society. Claim of P. Rajgopalachari based on the alleged nomination was rejected. On 15.2.1982 a circular was issued by Secretary Sh. S. A. Sarnad informing all members regarding the declaration of Sh. Umesh Chandra Saxena as Successor President and the spiritual representative in the direct line of succession. An amendment was carried out to the Societies Registration Act, 1860 on 30.4.1984. Section 3(A) was amended by the substitution of sub section 4 of Section 3(A) and addition of a proviso to Section 4(1). By virtue of Section 3(a)(4). List of the members of the managing Committee Body elected was required to be filed. Ex-parte injunction was granted on 4.1.1984 was confirmed on 9.4.1984. In appeal by respondent No. 1, P. Rajgopalachari the High Court granted stay of injunction. The High Court allowed the first appeal and set aside the injunction order. SLP filed against the order of the High Court was dismissed by this Court on 27.9.1985. The suit was subsequently withdrawn on 10.7.1997 on giving of an undertaking not to alignate and not to shift the head quarters. On 23.1.1988 elections were held at the head quarters in accordance with Section 3(A)(4) and Section 4 and the office bearers were duly elected Sh. S.P. Srivastava as President and Sh. B.D. Mahajan as Secretary respectively. On 24.4.1990 in proceeding under Section 25 of the Act report of the Tehsildar counter signed by the SDM as the prescribed authority under Section 25 was passed recognizing the representation of aforesaid two persons as the President and Secretary. On 29.7.1991 another report was given by the tehsildar and K.G. in a proceeding under Section 25 recognising the same position. The aforesaid reports were questioned on behalf of respondent No. 1 before the prescribed authority by an application called SU-2/91 the application was rejected by the prescribed authority and earlier reports were confirmed. An application was moved by 75 members of the society for action under Section 25(2) of the Act on 20.4.1993. On 15.2.1994 elections were held and Sh. Umesh Chandra Saxena and Sh.K.V. Reddy were elected as President and Secretary respectively. on 29.9.1994 the Assistant Registrar passed order holding that since the Constitution provides for nomination of President election cannot be conducted. He also held that in view of the interim orders in civil suit OS (No.) 200 of 1983 the respondent No. 1 P. Rajagopalachari shall continue to work as President. As noted above the suit was withdrawn on 10.7.1997 with liberty to file fresh suit. On 10.7.1997 writ petition No. 37023 of 1994 filed against the order dated 29.9.1994 was dismissed by learned Single Judge. On 24.11.1998 the Division Bench dismissed the special leave No. 580 of 1987 holding that since under the Rules of the society the post of the President and Members of the working committee is not an elected one, Section 25 would not come out and took play. The High Court, however held that Registrar had no authority to direct anybody to continue an office. It was further held that the application under Section 25(2) itself was untenable and so was the writ petition. On 22.1.1999 elections were held and again Umesh Chandra Saxena and Sh. K. V. Reddy were elected as President and Secretary in accordance with the amended provisions of the Act. On 3.11.2003 Sh. Umesh Chandra Saxena expired and Navneet Kumar Saxena was elected unanimously as the President of the Society in an emergent meeting which was held at Hyderabad by working committee. The general Body on 22.11.2003 had approved and confirmed the election of the Navneet Kumar Saxena as the President of the society. Further the amendment proposed and adopted by the General body of the society, in order to make the rules in consonance of the provisions of the Act. On 12.2.2005 elections were held in the society for electing the Managing committee and again Navneet Kumar Saxena and K. V. Reddy was elected as the president and Secretary respectively.

4. Primarily the stand is that if Section 3(A)(4) as introduced by Act 11 of 1984 cannot be given a restricted meaning. If it is elected to Managing Body "elected" then the provision made would be rendered "nugatory". It is intended to provide that even if Rules, say otherwise "elections" has to be introduced, Section4 (Proviso) is also relevant. The stand is that earlier there was no need for list of elected members as there was no elected member. So the purpose is to have elected members. Section 4 speaks of an annual list. If the intention was that the members were to be elected, the legislature could have said so specifically without leaving it to be inferred by implication. Section 27 provides for the consequence for non compliance with Section 4. It is stated that the position in 1975 was that chosen includes "election". Now, it only means elected by implication and that to be read in the line of Section 3(A) and 4 proviso, it is pointed out that Section 25(2) refers to election and the remedy to challenge. If there is no remedy nobody is left remedyless. Alternatively, it is submitted that assuming it is to be done by nomination, P. Rajgopalachari could have been nominated, but it has been annulled on 16.4.1982 as Umesh Chandra Saxena remains nominated. 5. It is pointed out that the earlier suit having direct effect was withdrawn and the effect of it has to be considered. The effect of the withdrawal of a suit has been considered by this Court in K. Sivaramaiah v. Rukmani Ammal [2004(1) SCC 471]. It was inter alia observed as follows:

"So far as Original Suit No. 7359 of 1989 is concerned, the findings recorded in the judgment therein could have constituted res judicata but the fact remains that the appellate court permitted the withdrawal of the suit and once the suit has been permitted to be withdrawn all the proceedings taken therein including the judgment passed by the trial court have been wiped out. A judgment given in a suit which has been permitted to be withdrawn with the liberty of filing a fresh suit on the same cause of action cannot constitute res judicate in a subsequent suit filed pursuant to such permission of the court."

6. It is not necessary to deal with the true import of Sections 3(A) and 4. It would be appropriate to direct that the pending suit shall be decided within a period of six months.

7. The effect and relevance of any proceedings which have attained finality shall be duly considered in the pending suit. It is open to the parties to move for such interim protection as the circumstances warrant. The appeal stands disposed of accordingly. No order as to costs.

Chari's clan and the clan of the descendants of Babuji have not only fought for the presidency of the SRCM, but also on the web for the ownership of the domain names.

In 1996, a preceptor of the clan of Umesh Chandra Saxena moved to the USA. He created in 1998 the website 'sahajmarg.org' where he published the first letters of nomination by Babuji of Chari and Umesh Chandra Saxena. The Chari clan quickly called for arbitration by the United States Commission, which confirms the ownership of this website to the clan of the descendants of Babuji April 4, 2000 (More ...).

According to the preceptor, the pressures exerted by the clan of Chari will cause Umesh to give up, despite this first decision in his favour.

Second episode in 2007, the grandson of Babuji, Navneet Kumar Saxena, creates a new website 'srcmshahjahanpur.org.in' in February 2007 where he publishes again the 2 letters of nomination and some serious accusations against Chari and his clan.

The website content change on January 12, 2008, muzzling the descendants of Babuji, following a decision by the Arbitration Commission of India in favour of the clan of Chari in July 2007 (More ...).

Meanwhile, other websites have made a fleeting appearance, all from the clan of the descendants of Babuji. This was the case with 'sahaj-marg.org' or 'babujimemorial.org' ...

This writ petition has been filed for quashing the order-dated 12.4.1999, Annexure-1 to the writ petition passed by respondent no.1.

The present writ petition is having a long history. The facts arising out of the present writ petition are that there is a Society in the name of Sri Ram Chandra Mission, which was registered under the Societies Registration Act 1865. In the year 1995 when the founder President expired, a Working Committee meeting was held for consideration of nomination of Sri Sharad Saxena and Sri P. Rajgopalachari. The Working Committee resolved that Sri P. Raj Gopalachari is the nominated President. Suit No. 283 was filed challenging the nomination and authority of Sri P. Raj Gopalachari. On 20.3.1984 Sri U.C. Saxena along with his brothers and plaintiffs in Suit no.283 called a fake meeting resolving that Sri S.P. Srivastava is the President of the Mission. It has also been submitted that in First Appeal Form Order No. 439 of 1984, Sri P. Rajgopalachari was held to be the President of the Society. Against the aforesaid order a SLP was filed and the same was also dismissed. The Society was renewed from 10.10.1985 for a period of 5 years under the Presidentship of Sri P. Raj Gopalachari and in the year 1990 also it was renewed for a period of 5 years under the same Presidentship. A suit was filed in the Calcutta High Court in which Sri S.P. Sriavastava and Sri B.D. Mahajan were restrained to allege themselves as the President and Secretary. Subsequently, a writ petition was filed in the year 1981 with a prayer to recognize Sri S.P. Srivastava as President and Sri B.D. Mahajan as Secretary in place of registered President Sri P. Raj Gopalachari and Secretary Sri S.A. Sarnad. Then various litigation have taken place in the various Courts and Suit no. 697 of 1995 which was filed by Sri U.C. Saxena for declaration as a President is pending before the Civil Judge, (Senior Division).

It has been submitted on behalf of the petitioner that when in various litigations, Sri U.C. Saxena, respondent no.2 has not succeeded in his claim, he made an application before the Registrar dated 31.12.1988 claiming himself to be the President and by the impugned order dated 12.4.1999 respondent no.1 has passed an order and has referred the dispute to the Prescribed Authority under Section 25 of the Societies Registration Act. Aggrieved by the aforesaid order the petitioner has approached this Court.

The writ petition was entertained and this Court vide its order dated 11.5.99 passed a detailed order and has stayed the operation of the order dated 12.4.99. A counter affidavit has been filed denying the allegations made in the writ petition and it has been stated that respondent no.2 is in effective control and is working as President and as there was a dispute, therefore, the matter has rightly been referred by the Registrar under Section 25 of the Societies Registration Act. The petitioner has brought to the notice of this Court that a writ petition bearing no. 174296 of 2004 was filed by one Navneet Kumar Saxena claiming to be the President of the Society and the interim relief was also claimed but the application for interim relief has been rejected. The petitioner has brought to the knowledge of this Court regarding the finding recorded while considering the interim application in Writ No.17429 of 2004 in which Court has observed that Sri Umesh Chandra Saxena has been challenging the order of Assistant Registrar against which although civil appeal has been filed but no interim order has been passed. Secondly, respondent no.4 is functioning as President of the Mission. The petitioners have failed to show any basis for them to amend the byelaws or claim themselves as President and Office Bearers of the Society. As the byelaws do not contemplate any election of the President and the Working Committee is appointed by the President as per the byelaws 4(G), and the special provisions in the byelaws have been made due to the reasons that Society was founded for spiritual attainment by system of ''Sahaj Marg' the claim of the petitioners to amend the byelaws by providing for election is not sustainable and no interim relief was granted. It has also been informed to the Court that Sri Uemsh Chandra Saxena has already died and, therefore, now there is no dispute and the writ petition be disposed of accordingly.

In view of the aforesaid fact as respondent no.2 has already died and claim of respondent no.2 cannot be said to be based on inheritance, therefore, it appears that now there is no dispute.

In view of above, the writ petition is disposed of accordingly. It is however, open to any interested party to put its claim, if so advised. No order as to costs.

My dear Jahagirdar,

To day I am thinking of you from the early morning and I feel to part some secret for your knowledge and advantage of our Abhiyasis because I feel by the time I reach India it will be too late. Now I am beginning to think that some people do not want my existence and it appears that they do not have any love for me but they think of more of the property and assets of the Mission and we are deviating from the path of " SAHAJ MARGA ".

Recently I have examined four of my senior preceptor, but I found that they have taken the different view of Sahaj Marga, with the result I have to leave them for the care of God Almighty to sail or sink. I also worked hard with Parthasarathi Rajagopala-Chari but all in vain, dark clouds are around him and the nature has decided to punish him. I was astonished to feel that he has been revengeful and making several attempts on my life for the past eight years. In the way back 1974 when I was admited to Vivekananda Hospital Lucknow, that time he played with my life but I could survive since my master was great to safguard me, at that time the circumstances were diferent. Now again he became successful in administering the slow poison solution in my food served in the plate while travelling from India to Paris. But I was taken careof by the doctor here but nothing can be said what happens while I travel from Paris to India Back; anything could be expected.

Now I feel that the time has come to leave physical body the enough damage has been done and moch more is expected in the 100 hours probabely I may not be given any chance to write any further letter after this that is why I thought of you to convey my feeling to you, for you to know what kind of people Mission is having and what reward has been given to me for the servilce to the huminity and the mankind.

I am given to understand here that Mr. P. Rajagopalachari has been conducting meetings with the foreign Abhiyasis that he is going to be the next President and Master may not survive now, I still do not know who has declared him? These are the things which are depressing me and I see the present condition of the Mission today.

During my illness Jesus Crist were attending on me and sucking the poison from my body, during the time I had enough time to attend on you and I found your fullest devotion and surrender and I have transformed you in totality. I wish that all our abhiyasis should follow your path and you are requested to guide every our Abhiyasi so that they are benifitted.

I want to reveal one more secret [one more secret est souligné] which is fetal to the Missionis that I have already nominated my Successor President and the letter to this effect has already been issued, the person is from the Direct Line of Succession and this is the wish of my Master.

I am also associating with my successor President the following four persons who will also work under his direction and they are:
1. Dr. S. P. Srivastava, Lakhimpur Kori,
2. Mr. Kashi Ram Agarwal, Shahjahanpur,
3. Mr. K. C. Narayan S/o KDr. K. C. Vardhachari
4. Mr. Nasib Chand Lucknow

Kindly do not divulge these secret to any one except Umesh, my son but only after my life time otherwise he is likely to become hostile. I foresee immediate hospitalisation in India and likely to remain for longer period, hence this letter being confidential letter handing over to one of the old sincere Abhiyasi who is here, to ensure delivery of this letter safely.

You are at liberty, to take action in alarming circumstances, if need be but with a condition to route through this letter through Umesh only. But at the same times you are also requested to streamline the disturbances by peaceful approach by taking help of the other senior members.
I fully hope that you will do as I wish.

Trivedi, Retired IAS Prabhat Kumar Sinha, sitting IAS, Pankaj Kumar Sinha and many others including D.M. Office’s staff Shri Ravinder Sinha (stamp clerk) entered the Ashram with arms, and attacked the mother of Shri Navneet Kumar Saxena aged about 60 years and Shri Amresh Kumar, Ashram in charge aged about 65 years in presence of Police and Administrative officers. FIR was refused to be lodged by the local police Station, S.P. Office and DM Office (Stating “no one will file your FIR in Shahjahanpur)
High Court quashes the order of DM dated 31.3.2006 and orders to go to lower court for relief. (Even when High Court had the option of deciding on anti status quo order) – Proofs available.
In Lower Court arguments were held on 19th April 2006 for FIR to be registered. Order was passed on 24.4.2006 relying upon order passed by High Court on 25.4.2006 (Case still pending to be taken up).
The date of disposal of the Writ Petition was on 24.4.2006. Thereafter the file was sent to the record room and the copies applied by the petitioners or any other person were delivered by the copying section only when the file after orders were transferred on 25th April 2006. No copies taken by P. Rajagopalachari group but same being deposited on the earlier date i.e. 24.4.2006. (Hearing took place at 1.00 PM on the W.P. filed by us at Allahabad High Court and order sheet was attached at lower court on the same day at 12.00 noon before the first hearing at High Court could take place).
Forcibly taking in possession the licensed gun of Shri Puneet Kumar Saxena, Legal Adviser and Working Committee Member of the Society and S/o Shri Umesh Chandra Saxena, and personal vehicles, property papers, documents of Shri Puneet Kumar Saxena and Smt. Amita Kumari Saxena and the Ashram in charge, Shri Amresh Kumar.

Taking Trademarks and copyrights in US at California with its headquarters at Chennai, thereby floating a parallel organization.
Going against the set up and system laid down by Babuji Maharaj, the Founder President of the Society by

Changing headquarters from Shahjahanpur
Calling himself as President which is against the Constitution and by laws of the Society.
Calling himself as Master which is also against the wishes of Babuji Maharaj and His Guru Lalaji Maharaj as written in Babuji’s diaries.
Running the Mission as a commercial organization which is again against the wishes of the Founder President. Babuji made the Mission for the welfare of humanity and to be devoid of commercial activities like building townships, etc.

Collecting of funds in the name of Shri Ram Chandra Mission.
Writing absurd and obnoxious literature which is against Shri Ram Chandra Mission’s philosophy and preaching.
Misappropriations of funds being collected in the name of Shri Ram Chandra Mission by self and his family members in their personal business.
Misguiding people at large in the name of spirituality.
Attempting on life of Shri Umesh Chandra Saxena and his family members.
Repeated threats being received from Parthasarathi Rajagopalachari’s associates.
Making another society Sahaj Marg Foundation and collecting funds in that Society in the name of Shri Ram Chandra Mission.

There is a school running by name Babuji Memorial Public School Society, in the premises of Ashram at Shahjahanpur, which has been forcibly closed down by the attackers of cocus group of Chari since 2nd April 2006. (Future of students in vain)
Trying to stop this website based on their parallel set up in the same name Shri Ram Chandra Mission registered at California by misguiding NIXI also recently. Arbitrator in the same was appointed against the Arbitration Law of the country. We have requested NIXI and arbitrator to wait until the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India decides the matter and passes order. But we have so far no response. Our complaint is already filed at NIXI. Awaiting response

Analysis of The History of Sahaj Marg by Alexis...

Let's look at similarities and differences among all of these movements. The spiritual teachings develop so incredibly that one wonders how they can all be from the same mold.

1. The Spiritual Syncretism (1857-1945)

According to Thomas Dähnhardt, Hujur the Sufi and Lalaji the Hindu have consciously set up a syncretic spiritual teaching so as to abolish the borders between religions. The 11 principles of the Naqshbandiyya Order already advocated the silent meditation on the heart and constant remembrance of the Divine presence. The master pours the Divine energy in the hearts of his disciples while freeing him/her of his impure thoughts. The primary responsibility of the spiritual evolution of the aspirant rests in the hands of his Master, provided he comes into daily contact with his/her guru through meditation. That work had already been done by Kabir, laying the foundations of Santmat in the fifteenth century, but also before him by other illustrious unknown, Sufism drawing its roots in Hinduism, and vice versa.

Their successors have continued in this direction by separating spiritual practice and theory. The practice has remained almost the same, while the theory has remained with the Islamic adherents of the Sufi order (NaqshMuMra, Golden Sufi Center, etc.), while it has been re-hinduised by others (the current "Ramashram "ABSS, and so on.). The words in Arabic and Persian have been replaced by their equivalents in Sanskrit or Hindi. The references to the Q'uran and Muhammed have been replaced by the Upanishads and Lord Krishna.

Still no group denies the respective historical contributions of the two religions and all speak of the different masters which are at the origins. No group except the Sahaj Marg of Babuji…

2. The Specifics of Sahaj Marg (1945-70)

First point: little by little, Babuji denies the origins of Sahaj Marg. He begins by dreaming of Lalaji and his many Sufi predecessors, and then he forgets Lalaji and turns to Vivekananda. Soon, he forgets Vivekananda and returns to Lalaji, but without the Sufis, then he assimilates Sahaj Marg to Raja Yoga. In terms of exclusivity, it is better than the Sahaj Marg.

Other differences in the teachings: the responsibility of the guru. No conscious effort is demanded on the part of the disciple outside of the practice of meditation. This was the case with his Masters. For Babuji, recognizing the role of the disciple is increased, that of the teachings is decreased. Chari pushes it much farther.

And last but not least: Babuji invents uniqueness and exclusivity. He is the sole heir to Lalaji. His disciples must focus on a single Master, meaning himself. During his lifetime, Lalaji had several teachers, and he encouraged his disciples to mingle more. Given the openness of Lalaji, Babuji creates a doctrine and throws open (without knowing it) the foundation of the cult of the personality that will proliferate the Mission in the future.

A full account of the transfer of power between Lalaji and Babuji is based solely on the dreams of Babuji. To accept this is to believe solely in the account of Babuji, and to adhere to the principle of his countless inter-communications with a dead person, in spite of all the facts that are reported. One also discovers the paranoid side of Babuji who sees enemies everywhere, especially in the creation of the SRCM and just before his death…

3. The Current Developments of the Teachings(1970-2007)

As early as 1970, Dr KC Varadachari alerted Babuji about the risks of the drifting of the teaching of Sahaj Marg. He is moved by the encroaching materialism in the SRCM at the expense of spirituality and denounces some sensitive developments in the teaching of Sahaj Marg by the preceptors. But he died soon after, and nobody will resume his fight. All seem to cope perfectly with the declining quality of the teachings and the rise of materialism, including his son , K.C. Narayana.

One is already far from the initial Sahaj Marg, that famous method for the use of the individual spiritual seeker. It is adorned with a goal of universal scope: to tip the world towards spirituality. And this can take place only when the number of followers reaches a certain required threshold. This is the beginning of the proselytism.

Then followed a succession quarrel as it often does, that crystallized with the death of Babuji. For the SRCM of Shahjahanpur, led by SP Srivastava, Umesh Chandra Saxena then Navneet Kumar Saxena, Babuji will never be replaced, there can be no other Living Master and the SRCM must remain in Shahjahanpur, headed by his descendants, as Lalaji in its time, had focused on the family line rather than the Sufi spiritual lineage of Hujur Maharaj.

To KC Narayana, Chari has been named president but not "spiritual representative". He left the mission in 1990, when Chari began to present itself as the "living Master" and called for love and devotion on the part of his diciples. For him, Babuji is the sole Master, eternally alive. For the SRCM(California), Chari is the president, the spiritual representative, and he will also gradually become the living Master, the only successor of Babuji.

Chairman, spiritual representative and living Master. It could be argued that the different factions of Sahaj Marg differ on the spiritual aspects. But one can also adopt a completely different view, a lot more material and human. The attraction to power flatters the oversize egos of these little minds. It is difficult not to succumb to the temptation of being adored by the massed.

Of all the successors of Babuji, Chari is undeniably the one who has the best track record. Adhering to the proselytizing goal of Babuji, he has the genius to succeed in instrumentalizing the cult of the personality, already calling for underlying love and devotion without causing the breakup of the movement. Gradually, he subtly alters the balance of different tools and creates new ones. He relegates the Ten Commandments and to the rank of "maxims", carefully maintains the ambiguity between Master and Divine and develops the constant remembrance of the Master…

The quality of the teachings is neglected in favor of a simple varnish. The preceptors are under pressure from the boss to increase the number of new recruits. Proselytizing finally triumphs, indeed!

This letter is to demand that your and the Shri Ram Chandra Mission continuing involvement in, planning and encouragement of, recruitment of, information gathering, harassment and intimidation through “intellectual terrorism” with, but not limited to, such statements to create a false sense of urgency to join or enroll in your cult, by stating or implying impending “apocalyptic catastrophies”, through apocalyptic prophesies and/or “channelled messages from the deceased”, or hate mongering such as “homosexuality is un-natural…it is a very blatant misuse of so-called privileges of the human being fundamental rights” must CEASE AND DESIST immediately. Recruitment of my family, or their friends’ children for enrollment into your Religious Boarding School, the Lalaji Memorial OMEGA School, (or any other religious boarding school) managed and operated by the Shri Ram Chandra Mission created entity, the Baal Vatika Educational Society and the Baal Vatika Educational Foundation, the Chariji Education Development Society (CEDS), the Lalaji Memorial Educational Society, is also included in this CEASE AND DESIST ORDER. Should you and the Shri Ram Chandra continue to pursue these activities in violation of this CEASE AND DESIST ORDER, we will not hesitate to pursue further legal action against you and the Shri Ram Chandra Mission, including, but not limited to, civil action and/or criminal complaints.

Babuji used to say: It’s better to have no Master than a bad one….

If we could find a “Perfect” man, there would be no problem with Guru Yoga, but we know how difficult that is. Chari, the current Master of the Shri Ram Chandra Misssion, claims to be a Master of “Humanity”, not “spirituality”. In other words he knows from his “business” skills how to “manipulate” people and handle large crowds and “grow the business”. That is not “sprituality” but it is “power” and it impresses some people (mostly women, 75% of Sahaj Marg abhyasis or "disciples" )….We are in a “idol worshipping” society and Chari has the “silver haired” look …and that “sells”. But that is image. The proof is in the "pudding".

The process of voluntarily “emptying” or “cleaning” or “(brain-) washing” will give one an experience specially when the “target” is immediately transmitted to in a “heart to heart” system that has been “cleansed” (washed voluntarily to get rid of all desires such as problems with family, friends, job, life in general). The “two on one heart” can be seen as simply a ‘electromagnetic” or “psycho-magnetic” toy or game and one could classify that as “spiritual masturbation”. If the serf receives “energy” it is the energy and the “bonding” with the “preceptor” or (priest). This is done on a weekly basis while the Guru is at his one of his many “cottages” or “vatika’s” (Vatican).

We chose our loves and friends that way (push out all others and allow only one (or a few that we love (have a chemical reaction with) or trust (survival mechanism) to “transmit” to us and that we “open ourselves to”. Love does not emanate from Sahaj Marg except in one direction: from the abhyasis to “love for the Master” and recently to the Mission and the Method, at the cost of the family, society, job, the planet, etc… Of course that will give one a focus of energy which Sahaj Marg claims is the “Divine” but Beware….Chari is not the ONE (God) and although they claim “brotherly love”, that is not the experience of those who have been “rejected” to “never be allowed in” again as Chari says. And that is not the experience of the “rejected” other members of the family and friends of those who become “abhyasis” or “serfs” as one book calls the “disciples”

To surrender completely and become a “living dead” (the ideal in Sahaj Marg) in the hands of a Funeral Director and push out all the “attractions of Life” is pushing away all “responsibilities” also. In Sahaj Marg, no one seems responsible, not even the Guru, for what is said and taught. That is the way Sahaj Marg operates. Much like a religion with a dictator at the helm (so a cult??). Although Chari blames the "lack of Love" in Sahaj Marg (see Lessons From Sahaj Marg) on the "preceptors", he ultimately has to be held responsible as the system aims at "spiritual cloning" or the abhyasi is to become a "copy" or a "clone" of the Master.

Chari is even now arranging Marriages between (western) women and Hindu men who he claims are better that “occidentals”. That is their nationalist “spirituality”. (recently posted on Elodie’s blog, The Desperate Abhyasi (see link below) by an “exited” and “grateful” woman soon to be married by Chari)

Before becoming “dependent” on the Sahaj Marg and the current Master (a retired Mill Manager with one of the largest Industrial consortiums in India:The TTK Group), and/or the chief Preceptor (retired General Manager of State Bank of Mysore), and in charge of Foreign Affairs and Internet, (businessman and real estate developer, Austin, Texas) do some research in Europe and in North America. There are many blogs by "insiders", ex-disciples, preceptors, and leaders of many schisms.

Check out the composition and spiritual status of the “management team”. There have been accusations from within the group, that Chari is appointing only “Brahmins” (Hindu Upper class) to the “Management Team”. Books apparently written by some of the “insiders” such as “You too can sell” and “You too can be Rich” (S. Prakash) does not reflect “spirituality”, or the good of society, but selling of Material Goods and shows one aspect of the "philosophy" (or "no philosophy", as Chari, the Master claims is Sahaj Marg) of the Management TEAM of SRCM. These are not professors or philosophy as Dr. Varadachari, (Guru in waiting before Chari and his gang took over the society) or persons who have devoted their time and effort to the good of the community, but they are "self-serving" to themselves and to their wealthy (inter-nationalist) "clients".

So carefull about “emptying” your Mind to be filled in a “heart to heart” (also called "two on a heart" or "two on a Mind", as in hypnosis) transmission by Salesmen, Materialists or by psychologist, and psychiatrists from the “International Spritual Psychiatry Association”, (Europe) members of which are “preceptors of Sahaj Marg and who did and do research on their “abhyasi clients” (54 of them in Europe) for the benefit of their professional status and then for the benefit of the SRCM Mission. Chari arranged a meeting with this organization at his Ashram in India in the 1980’s after a seminar of that organization in Israel. Members of this organization are also contributors to the Sahaj Marg Spirituality Foundation: SMSF,
the think tank of SRCM which was founded by Dr. Varadachari and is now controlled by the Chari Faction registered in California in 1997, or the SRCM (Chennai)

K.C. Narayana's Testimonial

The famous doctor of philosophy K.C. Varadachari (1902-1971) was a great friend of Babuji, and according to some, his designated successor if he had lived longer. He created Sahaj Marg Research Institute (SMRI) in 1967, precursor of the current SMRTI.

His son, K.C. Narayana, became abhyasi in 1955, preceptor in 1967, director of the SMRI in 1984 and resigned from the SRCM in 1991 to found a dissenting organization, the Institute of Sri RAM Chandra Consciousness (ISRC).

Narayana recognized at the time of his membership on the "Working Committee", that Chari was appointed president of the SRCM by Babuji since 1974, but refused him the title of "spiritual representative". He agreed with the analyses of his father who deplored compromising Babuji's teachings to obtain average followers to the detriment of the quality of the spiritual teaching.

K.C. Narayana and his followers claim to teach today the original method inherited from Babuji without the least alterations and in the absence of any living Master. Peter and Ines, old abhyasis of Chari who later joined the ISRC, initially exchanged lengthy e-mail's with him in March and April, 2005. Here are segments of the answers of Narayana:

Dear brother

Thank you for your kind mail. I have been in the system of Rev. Babuji since 1955 and worked as a preceptor of SRCM from 1967 to 1991. I have been in personal contact with the Master Sri Ramchandraji Maharaj of Shahjahanpur who took me to the acme of perfection in this system of sadhana though I still feel I am a beginner in the path. I worked very closely with Parthasarathy Rajagopala Chari from the beginning till 1991 and more closely since the physical veiling of the Master in 1983. I knew Brother Andre Poray of France as he used to visit my respected and venerable father Dr. K.C.Varadachari but I did not have any opportunity to discuss with him at any point of time.

We ( some serious practicants of the system) separated when my brother Parthasarathy was projected as a Living Master and less emphasis was sought to be given to the methods of Rajayoga given by the Master Babuji Maharaj and a casual approach was taken towards the Commentary on Ten Commandments of the Master which Master is on record to say that is his master piece. We believe and feel sure that Rev. Babuji Maharaj is the eternal master governing the destinies of spiritual life of all aspirants in the world for the millennia to come.

Also we consider Pranahuti to be a yogic achievement and is not dependant on any person for its source thus converting the process itself to the ridiculous level of being a medium. We do not charge any fees for any work that we do and in fact provide lot of material free of cost and books which may cost in the market around ($20) for a just about ½ a $ towards the handling charges that also being optional.

We are more interested in conveying the message of the Master as also propound it according to our capacity and approach and all the material is available in our site www//sriramchandra.org and www// imperience.org. We also believe in assisting the aspirants to evaluate themselves according to the Ten Commandments of the Master and also the map given in the book Towards Infinity. I have recently published and made it available in the internet for free down load my commentary on the book called Path of Grace.

We do agree that brother Parthasarathy is the President of SRCM as a successor to Babuji Maharaj but not as a successor to the spiritual Master or Special Personality who is guiding all of us. I have by the grace of my Master link with Him and am serving those who seek to serve the Master by enabling them have the connection with the Master. It is only when a person has access upto Brahmand Mandal the case is taken up at the request of the individual aspirant to get him connected with Master and then he is permitted to work as a trainer in the ISRC.

Q: Indeed, I worry about what Chari said recently concerning 95% of abhyasis : they are still at the 1st point, and the rest are at the 2nd... my wife and I have been meditating for 18 years and we feel completely lost and powerless in front of such a reality... We don't have tools, answers, which could help us to overwhelm these obstacles.

K.C.N: Bro. Chari did not deviate much from the procedure of permitting persons as PREFECTS. During Rev. Babuji also used to permit like that and there were very few PRECEPTORS (known as full fledged permission those days.
We used to receive a Big certificate while the Prefects used to receive a smaller one.) In ISRC no permission is given unless a person has access upto the Brahmand and this is after a thorough assessment by a group of persons forming what we call Governing Council. When we separated from SRCM Bro. Chari wanted the certificates given earlier to be returned to him which was duly complied with. We are of the firm opinion that Spiritual progress is not dependant on the papers given to us. To assess the spiritual progress we have since developed certain self evaluation tools to assess oneself regarding the compliance on the Ten Commandments given by the Master. We have also a questionnaire to evaluate oneself of his progress in the Pind desh. The ISRC insists on practice of meditation on points A and B which was fully explained by the Master in his book Efficacy of Rajayoga. Also we practice the prayer at 9 P.M. stating " That all the persons in the world are brethren and they are all developing true love and devotion to the Master." These were all found as omissions by us in SRCM in 1991 though there has always been some serious aspirants insisting on these since 1967.

Q: In our little center of meditation, we sent two days ago a letter to the responsible for Europe; we are everyone of us very dedicated but upset by the recent transformation of the SRCM into something like a "multinational enterprise". (it is very hard for me to speak like that of my spiritual organization, but...).
We worry about the prices of subscriptions, fees for seminars (200, 250, 300 euros...), books... I have got a question concernig the latest book called"Whispers from the Brighter World", which is a "series of messages transmitted from Babuji to a French abhyasi "( for information, this book was sold like a subscription for 250 euros last year and the center paid to have one; but it is proposed now in french, which is the original language, for 300 euros... without the possibility of regrouping to buy it...Many abhyasis cannot afford it...) I read it and felt sweetness but there is no spiritual teaching in these messages... What do you think about it?

K.C.N: Dear brother, I am very sorry I cannot say anything about these organizational matters. I do not believe that Institutions can help much in spirituality. I was told earlier that the book mentioned by you is a series of messages that brother Chari got and now you say something else. Anyway I am not interested in that as my approach to Spirituality does not permit any deviation of attention from the Homeland.

Q: We worry about "sales by auction" which took place... in the meditation hall instead of meditation twice during the last seminars in Italy and Denmark....

K.C.N: This ofcourse is bit odd but what can I say about that? It is all organizational matters. Have you at any time read the books "letters of the Master Vol. 1 and 2. My revered father writing to Master stated in his letter dated18th June.1970, that "I fully realise that you require freedom from organizational work for the sake of spiritual work. I trust everyone will cooperate with you. But I must utter a word of warning if I ought not to be misunderstood. Let us not commercialise our Mission in our haste to secure financial stability for the Mission and in embarking upon works which are not immediately helpful to spiritual development for the abhyasis. We have to imbue the sense of Mission- spiritual and not mix it up with other ends. If I am not misunderstood I believe some things can be thrashed out with other seekers who also know about the deviations that take place in spiritual work. I trust you will not misunderstand me." {pps412-413}.

Q: We worry because of the project of giving 5 euros when a spiritual gathering (satsang+meal for instance) is organized. We worry because we don't find anymore the fraternal, generous, loving and studious spirit we found there at the beginning..

K.C.N: In ISRC also when there are celebrations of the birthday of Rev. Lalaji and beloved Master when large number of persons gather ( 5 to 6 hundreds) they do donate some money but no fixed charge is there. Usually the donations are more than our requirement and we donate the extra amount to the Sahaj Seva Samsthan. { Please see our site www// Sahaj seva Samsthan.org} which runs a free school for slow-learners, and a highly subsidized Hospital in the name of Sri Ramchandra memorial hospital. We consider and promote the feeling fraternity and service and sacrifice are the virtues that we need to develop in spiritual life.

Q: Dear Brother, I could add that I don't feel we are progressing on the spiritual path; as a preceptor, I would like to see that everybody is changing but it isn't the case. I would like personnally to be more aware of where I am, how I can learn better, and how I could be useful to help my brothers. I am longing for a real spiritual teaching with spiritual questions, answers and ethics. I would be glad if you could give me some advice : what and how can I do from France?

KCN: It is very good that you have sincere feelings of serving others in spiritual life. The spiritual teachings of the Master Babuji is the best that I am aware of. We have provided the same in our site as down loadable material. I suggest that you do read our 1. Showers of Divine grace 2. Sruti and 3. Path of grace. Also try to browse the site Imperience and go through the papers presented in our seminars. As for actual spiritual training, I do not know whether brother Chari has given any manuals of training. The ISRC has one which from my point of view is a good commentary on the manual 1 and 2 given to me by my Master. But we have a policy not to give to those who are not trainers in ISRC.

Q: Today, by a (very!) strange way, it seems that we are going back way home and it is very disturbing because we have always been told that Chari was Babuji's spiritual successor, appointed by him, in presence of witnesses. Thus how can we explain this? Is it possible to explain this? Can you explain this?

K.C.N: I do not know whether I can explain things but I can tell you certain facts.
1. Brother Parthasarathy was nominated as President of SRCM in March 1974. The words Spiritual Representative IS NOT there in the original document. This document was NOT attested by witnesses.
2. I being one of the members of the Working Committee nominated by Rev.Babuji Maharaj was the first to say the document need not be doubted as another document produced by one of the sons of our Master was a fake/bogus one.
3. The confusion arises only the position of the President of SRCM is confused with Spiritual Master who works for a millennia. Rev. Master is on record saying that he would be more useful after his physical veiling.
4. The problem or pseudo problem is necessity felt by some for a physically present Master. That there are realms beyond the physical is the basis of spirituality- as you can see the word spiritual would loose its sense the moment we want to have in the physical realm.
5. As a Prefect of SRCM you should be knowing that we do not do anything physically and all our work is in the astral plane only. { I do hope you were supplied with copy of the Manual of training issued by Rev.Babuji. This I am stating because since middle of Seventees this practice was stopped- I understand later some manual is being given}

Q: In reality, we are divided: mentally, we have got a sort a culpability in relation with Chari; within our heart, we have the certainty that we are right, that something very important is happening, that we are coming back to our Homeland...

K.C.N: Happy to hear this: the Master always guides the sincere and devoted.

Q & R:
From yesterday night, there were some clouds in my heart when I thought about the meeting which occurred today with a SRCM responsible for the southern zone. Indeed, she came because we sent a collective letter to express ourselves on our concern about SRCM financial options. The official answer to our anxiety has been:
- you don't have faith enough

K.C.N: Faith is a big subject. We need to have faith in ourselves, we should have faith in the method and faith in the guide/Master in the path. The subject of faith is dealt with very seriously in the philosophies of Surrender of various religions. The chapter in Reality at Dawn relating to Guru can be read by you with profit.
- you should be confident in the Master
- you should obey the Master

K.C.N: The whole problem is who is the Master? If it is God who is the real guru there is no problem and the co traveler in the path is duty bound to help us reach the feet of the Lord or gain Oneness with Him.
- only Master can know the Divine planes and your critics are only the expression of your ego.

K.C.N: If the words “ planes” in your mail is right I do not think so. God has only one Plane and that is the Blessing Splendour as I call it which is the nature of the 23 ring towards the centre. How we can judge ourselves regarding the plane of consciousness in which we normally function is what is sought to be explained in the book “ Towards Infinity” by the Master. I tried to put on record my thoughts in the book “ Path of Grace” available for free down load.
If otherwise you meant “ Plans” then surely the Supreme Personality alone knows it; no matter whether a person is the President of SRCM or not. That the Supreme Personality is the one who is working to better the quality of human being and he has his own plans is a fact beyond doubt. Human transformation is happening and that will happen very soon.
- all this shows that you have got a problem with money and materiality

K.C.N: What answer can I give on this. Every one has a need for money and body has its own requirements. That is why the system of our beloved Master is essentially meant for house holders and is not a method of the renounced/ ascetics.
- give up your dreams, you must face materiality within your spiritual organization.

K.C.N: Some person advised you and who am I to say on these matters. All that I can say we should live happily working for the transformation of humanity incessantly with total conviction in the cause of the Master and his method. 9 P.M. Prayer is the most important tool that we should invariably use for this purpose.

Q: I felt very bad because for me, obediance comes from the heart naturally when it is the good moment and , more important, love doesn't exclude critical sense, on the contrary...

K.C.N: I totally agree with you. If this freedom of expression is lost what freedom are we seeking in spirituality? May be I can suggest you to read the volumes 1 and 2 of Masters letters which is the correspondence between my revered father and the Master.

Q: Finally, the minimum of fraternity should be to listen with the heart different opinions. But it was not the case of course...

K.C.N: Any brand of Spirituality worth its name should encourage constructive individual development. Further it should be motivated by unselfish service to humanity. It should enable the individual to find out the narrow path of self effort and individual responsibility for spiritual development. It should appeal to reason and common sense and encourages verification through direct personal experience. To say Master will take care of all this is simple laziness at its worst and slavery at its best.
True spirituality supports the spiritual prosperity of the individual through holding out the vision of continuous progress through self effort and support of the Master
Real spirituality should encourage free discussion and rational explanations. And it should make its instructions and teachings of the Master available to all the worthy persons.(No discrimination intended)

Q: If I summ up, when I am thinking about all this, I don't feel very well with an impression of treason, culpability, irrespect in relation with my Master Chari. When it is my heart which is speaking, I would be crying with gratefulness the whole day. Do you see the problem?... I have a certain impression of "doing the splits"... and my wife too.

K.C.N: No other person can understand this agony than me. Since that will lead to my story of agony and ecstasy in spirituality I refrain writing further on this.

Dear brother

Thank you for your kind mail. Letters of the Master Volume I and II is published by SRCM only. I gave the correspondence from 1954 to 1971 maintained by my revered father Dr.K.C.Varadachari to brother Parthasarathy on his request in 1984. He provided me with a Xerox copy of the same in 1985. He got it published first in 1992 and the copy right is held by the SRCM North American Publishing Committee Pacific Grove CA USA. Then Mr. Thomas J. Whitlam who edited the correspondence sent me a copy of the two volumes. I do not have them now as my son Srihari took it from me.

I do not know anything about other volumes of Letters of the Master and I wonder whether any of them contain my letters and Rev. Babujis’ replies to me which were also given to brother Parthasarathy in 1984. However Sri Ramchandra Publishers Hyderabad have published a book titled “Event Horizon” which is an abridged version of the correspondence based on the Xerox copies of the letters with me. Regarding the manual of training given by Rev. Babuji Maharaj it consists of two volumes. Volume I is meant for prefects and Volume II is also given to Preceptors who were very few in number those days. I was given both of them by the Master and so was brother Parthasarathy. Perhaps he has given Volume I only to prefects. Since you are referring to the period 1988, I have to say I have a copy of the same given by brother Parthasarathy saying that he started giving the manuals.

Dear brother,

Your mails have raised many questions and I do not know how far I can answer them satisfactorily to you.
The issues raised may be stated broadly as:
1.Regarding the manuals of training
2.As to why I parted ways with brother Parthasarathy.
3.The evaluations of the aspirants as whole done by the President SRCM and the ethical and otherwise correctness of the same
4.If the evaluation of no evolution in majority of the aspirants in the SRCM is correct whether it is not a joke played by the system.
5.The progress made by the aspirants in ISRC and a few supplementaries to that.
I shall try to answer them one by one and I promise you that it is going to be a tedious reading for you but the nature of your questions is such. Bear with me for that.
First and the easiest one to answer is the Manuals of training given to you by brother Parthasarathy. It does cover to some extent the manuals given by Master particularly the part I. It would not be proper for me to say anything more than this.

Regarding why I parted with SRCM I wrote about this earlier in a small way. However as you desire me to answer again I shall do so. The story is really long but to make it short I should say that it was way back in late Nineteen Fifties and early Sixties the problem arose regarding the relative importance of the institutional structures (Ashram buildings etc.,) and spiritual procedures and progress. This was when the first Ashram of SRCM was getting constructed at Tirupati. A substantial donation was offered by a lady doctor and wife of a senior police official in Andhra Pradesh but she would not accept any receipt from my father for that and therefore it was not accepted.

But as things were to happen the amount was paid at Shahjahanpur and Master sent the money to Tirupati for construction which was reluctantly received by my revered father. Construction means bricks and mortar: very gross matters. My father wriggled himself out of this problem. The correspondence between my revered father and our Master Babuji Maharaj in this matter can be seen in the letters when you get the books. To be more precise the problem is the relative importance of materialism and spirituality. My revered father wanted spirituality to be given more importance and the system of training should not become casuality.

Others members of SRCM had different views. The simmering discontent was there since then. The problem blew into greater dimension when the SRCM was getting commercialized in the language of my revered father and Rev. Babuji was trying to convince him that no curvature was developing as feared. I apart from being a son was a close disciple of my revered father and studied under him Indian Philosophy, Western Philosophy including Henri Bergson as part of philosophies of evolution which included Aurobindo and others too. Further I specialized in a branch of Vedanta called Visistadvaita. Apart from that my professors in Psychology were close associates of my revered father and I studied Psychoanalysis for two years along with Constitutional Psychology.

With all this back ground I found myself in total agreement with my revered father that Institutions are also a powerful binding influence in the path of spiritual freedom and one needs to keep a close vigil on Institutionalism. But the process of constructing Ashram buildings in various centres started and funds were getting raised for the purpose with all good intentions. Our books which costing very little ( as little as less than a rupee) were getting printed and published surely in better manner at a cost that is high according to the then prevailing Indian standards.

The marketing skills of brother Parthasarathy were being fully utilized and he is a very efficient person as you also know. But this disturbed my revered father and he thought spirituality is gaining low priority as the aspirants were all busy in fund collection for the books, magazines, advertisements for the magazines and souvenirs published on annual celebrations of the Masters. He wrote to Master about this commercialization and the curves that are getting formed in SRCM which ofcourse Master explained away; all this can be seen between the lines in the correspondence between him and the Master.

In addition to this, the criteria for correct evaluation of spiritual condition of the aspirants were posing problems which could not be sorted out easily. Evaluations made by the Master also were not acceptable to some Preceptors and this put persons like my revered father in anguish. He expressed to Master his anguish stating “It has grave consequences in our appraisal of the ultimate state possible under our system.” Different Preceptors were evaluating aspirants differently and the SRCM was taking more and more the position of leaving the matter of evaluation to the Master and the prefects and preceptors were asked to keep their mouths shut- a practice that is being continued even now if I am right. The responsibility for performing Yatra in the abhyasis was thrown on the Master stating that it is not the task of the preceptors.

This problem emanated mainly because the number of prefects were more and they were expecting to be treated on par with preceptors. The task of promoting them to the level of the preceptor being tougher because of their lack of sadhana and other difficulties, the easiest solution is to treat them as equal and there by effectively nullifying the original distinction and in the process the motivation to grow in spiritual stature. But this ensured increase in the number of persons getting enrolled as members of the SRCM. The quantity as usual killed the quality in this case also. All these are unpalatable to many of us.

Further Master himself has evaluated differently the same person in some cases and this led to the need for arriving at standardization of evaluation techniques and procedures. This has led to the Master clarifying that there are two positions for the person being evaluated

1. Aksi and 2. Kasbi
or
1.Potential and 2. Actual.
Or
1.Reflected and 2 Acquired.

I am sure you have some information from the manuals supplied to you by brother Parthasarathy. It is absolutely essential to understand these concepts in work to assess properly the condition of the aspirant. Two seminar were held at Tirupati in late Nineteen Seventy and in one of them Master talked about the “Method of Training” which to my knowledge was not published by SRCM so far. It is part of the book “Showers of Divine Grace” published by Sri Ramchandra Publishers available for download in the site of sriramchandra.org. The Master stressed in the article that “moulding is the responsibility of the preceptors”. But this was ignored to such an extent that the article itself will be difficult for you to locate in SRCM.

In addition to these the prefects and some preceptors of SRCM were not giving enough importance to the “Ten Commandments of Sahaj Marg” though Master is on record that the book is his Master Piece. They went to such an extent during his life time itself to call the book “Ten Maxims of Sahaj Marg”.

Also the importance of the meditations on points A and B explained in the book “Efficacy of Rajayoga” was bypassed in preference to what is called love for the Master. That A and B points are discoveries of the Master the purification of which alone enables the aspirants to move into the higher realms of consciousness and also the cleansing of the points A1, B1; A2, B2; and A3 and B3 which enable one to stabilize in the higher realms of consciousness is totally neglected and ignored and to a certain extent denounced. The matter came up for discussion before the Master and I contended that if Master agrees that these are not necessary he in all fairness and honesty should withdraw the book “ Efficacy of Rajayoga” from the public where it is already in circulation for over 2 decades and give an open apology for misguiding aspirants. Shocked at this he sat immediately in meditation and communed with his master Rev. Lalaji and confirmed that what he wrote in the book is correct and should be practiced. A few hundred copies of a booklet listing the duties and responsibilities of the aspirant which I took with me to Shahjahanpur were given to the then Secretary Brother Parthasarathy and Master said they are to be treated as Mission publication. But the weak and fragile Master was ignored by many and majority of the prefects/ preceptors said that Master can do everything and there is no need for any practice other than love and devotion. This meant total abdication of responsibility for the Yatra by the preceptors and the whole responsibility was shifted to the Master.

I differed and was keeping a low profile busy as I was with my duties as a senior official of Government of A.P. However I continued my contact with Master and practice as I was advised and wrote letters to Master who also replied in some cases.

Later in Oct.1979 he wrote

My dear Narayana,

Your letters received. But I could not reply due to illness. I have been thinking over the suggestions offered by you for educating abhyasis into Sahaj Marg system. I am very happy to read your previous letters that you have got the courage and will for the work. May you live long.”

You know Narayana that I have done whatever the need was for the spiritual life of man and the work is still continued. The system is there, my support is there, yet it is for the persons like you to first educate abhyasis and then do further research. I have great hope from you. I wish to have you and Parthasarathy together for the work…”

Slowly and steadily I have been telling the importance of the discoveries of the Master in spiritual growth and the fragile frame of the Master slowly deteriorated though it has not affected the quality of transmissions received from him directly or through the preceptors and prefects showing that the physical body is not all that important for spiritual work. The physical veiling came as you know in April 1983 and the claims for the Chair of the President started between several parties. If I am correct some of the legal cases are still on and that is but natural for persons who seek power and status. The status of Guru can be very attractive! (Read Guru Chapter in Reality at Dawn)

As already informed to you in the earlier mails brother Parthasarathy came to me in 1984 and asked for cooperation and I readily agreed. He asked me to be in addition to the membership of the working committee as nominated by Rev. Babuji Maharaj, take additional responsibilities as the Zonal Secretary, Director of S.M.R.I. Centre in Charge of Hyderabad. I did accept all the responsibilities and discharged them to his and my utter satisfaction.

Then I mooted the idea of Training classes for the aspirants in 1987 and participants who were kept ignorant of the important practices mentioned above in this mail started asking brother Parthasarathy and other prefects and preceptors why they were not told the importance of these methods and more particularly the 9 P.M. prayer advised by the Master. In this atmosphere I was able to conduct about 6 or 8 training classes and brother Parthasarathy was uncomfortable with the growing demand for admission to the course and also the growing discontentment among the aspirants in the system.

In one such training session, in 1991 some speakers were suggested by brother Parthasarathy to speak more about the newly developing concept of Living Master and the need to love and be devoted to him more than practicing the system.

As this was something totally unacceptable I was watching the program and keeping quiet. Major. Dr. Madhava a senior practicant of the system and a member of the research committee was talking on the Essential of Sahaj Marg and was covering all the aspects explained by the Master.

After the talk he was summoned by brother Parthasarathy and was chided for not talking of the importance of the Living Master as an essential aspect of the system and was asked to make amends. He came to me and I advised him to do as the President told for I convinced him that Rev. Babuji is the Living Master in the astral plane and physical plane does not matter much.

That evening on that fateful day there was a lecture session in the head quarters of State Bank of India in which one speaker went to the extent of saying that the great saint Ramakrishna Paramahamsa could convert only one Narendra into a Vivekananda while brother Parthasarathy is making every person going to Chennai a Vivekananda. As I was on the Dias of the function sitting by brother Parthasarathy I kept quiet but as soon as the function was over went home and thought well over the happening on the day and came to the conclusion that the Organization has taken a deep curve and is drifting away from spiritual goals.

Two days later brother Parthasarathy spoke to me why I have not met him to which I told him I have not been fortunate to become a Vivekananda inspite of several transmissions from Rev.Babuji and Rev. Lalaji Saheb and felt totally unfit in the field. This in short is the story you desired to know. I have omitted many details which if mentioned would make a good movie. I attach to this long mail a document on what is written as a Preamble for the ISRC which may throw light on why we parted ways. What lessons you can draw from this I do not know

3. Regarding your questions about the ethically correctness of the alleged statements of brother Parthasarathy about members of the SRCM do you not know that it is improper for me to say anything about that since I left the organization long back. However I must say that routine practices for any number of hours a day for any period of time without taking regular individual sittings, cleaning sessions and without love and devotion to Master may not lead a person in the path far.

Further when the responsibility for performing Yatra is not vested with the prefects and the whole responsibility rests with the President SRCM I do not know how he was able to assess and evaluate the aspirants to make such sweeping statements as he did. I must however tell you I donot know the context in which it was said and may be you are over reacting to the same. I must also inform you that for over twenty years I have not been reading literature about this system from any other source than that of the original books of Rev. Babuji, my revered father and Rev. Lalaji. Ofcourse I keep track of many developments in transpersonal psychology and para psychology. Ofcourse for amusement sake I do read the writings of the modern day self declared Masters available dime a dozen- humour is a good medicine you know. In the context of what is written in the earlier paragraphs any evaluation has to take into consideration the position of Aksi and Kasbi in respect of each individual. So I am not able to help you to find whether the judgments of the President are ethical or otherwise.

4. Regarding the position of the ISRC I should bring to your kind notice that it is a administered by a Governing Council and no one is superior to the other. This council is an elected body during general body meetings held on Rev. Babuji Birthday celebrations. It after due examination of the candidature of the person permits a person among the Governing Council to seek permission to work under Dr. K.C.V. Order. In the Institute permission to work is given only when a person has access to Brahmand mandal in the Aksi manner though his/her Kasbi position may be only 3rd or 2nd knot. As there are about 150 persons working as trainer in ISRC it may be safely said that so many are in Brahmand mandal. We have about 12 or more persons moving in the Rings of Splendour and atleast 2 in the Central Region itself. There are quite a few souls after having crossed Para Brahmand mandal coursing at the various points in the 64 points before the Sahasrara.

You may kindly note that persons are admitted into the system of sadhana only after go through 2day training program in India and in Western countries it varies for 1 to 2 days. This is an intensive introduction to the system which makes it all the more sure that only serious person seeking the transformation of humanity as the main goal of life is admitted. Then only the 3 introductory sittings are given according to a fixed procedure; and it is not just sit for half an hour and go.

I may safely say that who ever has been coming for individual sittings regularly to me have all started yatra and in 100 % of the cases Ajapa is experienced very early enabling me to take up their Yatra without delay. Those who are very sincere and earnest have traveled considerable distance and many are both in Aksi and Kasbi manner crossed the Pind desh. Regarding the persons who go to other trainers who number about 150, I do not have records for all the persons maintained by the trainers and/or the Institute so I cannot give you the percentage of persons who have moved considerable distance in the path and the extent to which they progressed. I have however a feeling that those who attend the annual congregations which number about 5 to 6 hundreds they have all advanced to the extent I see my Master in them and I do offer Pranams to all of them before conducting the Satsang most of the times. My co travelers in the path in the Institute here are working out various methods by which we can present a more cogent picture of the work done. You may care to see the site www//imperience.org.

Regarding your question how much time it may take for a person to move into the 2nd knot, it depends. If the aspirant is serious and has a good trainer to work on him it may not take more than a year and this can be much earlier also.

As already pointed out that in order to ensure the objectivity of assessment or evaluation of the condition of the aspirant the ISRC has adopted a system of evaluation by 5 or more persons who are advanced and sensitive enough to study the conditions. The evaluation of all these persons is taken into consideration while arriving at the final evaluation of the aspirant. This procedure at present is confined to the aspirants who are going to be granted permission to work under the Dr. K.C.V. Order. For more information on this please see the site. Apart from the evaluation of the condition through this method, we do take into consideration the compliance of the Ten Commandments of the Master by the aspirant. Evaluation tools are developed and is available in the site. Further we have developed a beta version of the Pind desh Evaluation which gives an idea about the progress of the individual in respect of the conditions of the first five knots. We also administer a questionnaire on Altruism to find out the progress of the individual in transpersonal consciousness. What is mainly sought to be studied are the qualities of the Truth, Non-Injury ( Compassion), love ( non –jealousy), Non covetousness and celibacy the five basic pillars on which the structure of Super consciousness rests. It is the considered view of ISRC that the U portion of the heart as depicted in the book “ Efficacy of Rajayoga” signifies these qualities compared with the lower nature of the individual located in the L portion of the heart diagram. We are trying to utilise the statistical technique of Meta Analysis to present our evaluations of the aspirants. This is broadly the position.

5. Regarding whether the system itself is not a joke played I must say the information that the membership of the SRCM which was around 20,000 in 1991 now has grown to approximately 300,000 persons is heartening. I am very happy that so many know about Rev. Babuji and that itself is a great service to humanity.

6. Regarding the non-evolution of its members I appreciate your concern. But really speaking how many of this large numbers are seekers? Are you not aware of the categories of sadhakas who come to us classified by Rev. Babuji? It is a spiritual truth that when the disciple is ready the Master knocks at the door. Institutions can only spread the messages and it is the individual relationship between the Master and the disciple that matters in spiritual progress. The Institutions however have the onerous responsibility to spread the message of the Master in purity of content and that is where I find the SRCM erred more than in other aspects mentioned already in this mail.

7. As for the point regarding your spiritual condition I hope these letters are written by you and I can venture an assessment. You should have completed about 60% yatra in 1st knot and 2nd knots and about 75 % percent in the 3rd knot and 40 % in the 4th knot and are coursing in the 5th knot. These are based on the feelings and thoughts that were expressed in your mails. For more information on how Yatra is possible simultaneously on different knots you may kindly ask Dr. K. or any other trainer who may be there on the day of your visit to explain. Broadly speaking you are a sincere seeker and can be classified as the 3rd category of Sadhakas and aspiring to become the 4th category according to the categorization of aspirants made by Rev. Babuji Maharaj. (See the article “ Types of Gurus and disciples” of Rev. Babuji in Voice Real a publication of SRCM). I pray that you realise your true nature soon and serve mankind even as Master would wish us all to.

8. Brother Dr. K. is an excellent person and I am sure you will be benefited by the transmission from him, if you are so willing.

The Sri Ramchandra Mission named after the Samarth Guru Mahatma Sri Ramchandraji Maharaj of Fatehgarh was founded by Mahatma Sri Ramchandraji of Shahjahanpur in 1945 to fulfill the sacred Mission of the Master and serve humanity in an organized way However over a period of time, the status of the Master and that of the President of Sri Ramchandra Mission, in view of both being the same in the form of Sri Babuji Maharaj have got intertwined This has however created confusion in the minds of spiritual aspirants. That the great Master is none but God is an established truth of spirituality.

The Guru as a means many times got identified with God and more so in the case of Avatars like Lord Krishna, Buddha or Rev Babuji Maharaj. Such Gurus who may be classified as Azli-Fazli Gurus or Gurus who are of the caliber of Sambhava as explained in Tejo Bindu Upanishad are rare and far and few between They are said to come once in a millennia The propagation of the system founded by them rests on lesser mortals who however have the capacity to serve others to the extent they can and hand them over spiritually to the original source or founder They are classified as Fazli gurus or Shaktas which by itself is of a very high order of attainment However illusion crept in thinking and these persons also now and then claim to be of the status of original founders of the system. This unfortunate situation arises out of Gurudom getting into their heads and pomp and glory attract them. Such a trend is a big curvature and has a path down the hill and these are to be corrected.

That Pranahuti is a spiritual capacity of a salik is forgotten and is most often confused with mysterious mystic force. The head of an organization who arranges to establish training centers and gives permission to the deserved, chooses to think that the persons permitted without proper preparation will automatically develop the power of transmission is very unfortunate. It so happens due mainly to the human frailties that the head of the organization thinks himself to be having the exclusive privilege of preparing persons to be in charge of training centers and impart training through Pranahuti. The capacity to foment in others spiritual dynamism is essentially a yogic achievement (all yogic achievements are divine gifts) should not be forgotten. Also the responsibility of training others cannot be entrusted to all and sundry and one has to be circumspect in obtaining permission from the Master not withstanding one’s capacity to instill some divine light in others.

Unfortunate as it is, these two errors have crept into the Sri Ramchandra Mission and there is an urgent need to rectify. Accordingly, a society for bringing in the corrections in the main stream of the Mission is formed with the explicit purpose of achieving the above two objectives. The society shall be wound up the moment the objectives are achieved.

Q: I went on Internet and I found a page where it is said that Lalaji was a Master in a Soufi Order (Nashqbandi), that he has been initiated by this Order and that he has been the only non muslim Master of this Order. 1- Is all this true?

K.C.N: True. Rev. Lalaji had a Master called Rev. Fazl Ahmed khan. But my Masters’ opinion about his Master is that he is blessing to humanity from God and he was born perfect even as Lord Krishna an Avatar had a guru in Sandeepani.

Q: 2- If yes, why don't you speak about it in your site?

K.C.N: The story of Rev.Lalaji in ISRC site is essentially the version of Rev. Babuji on his Master. I accept only my Masters version and that is why the site of ISRC does not mention about that.

Q: 3- Did Babuji use to speak about this?

K.C.N: He did say about the Master of his Master but he said we have nothing to do with Naqshabandi order. His system has taken the best of all other streams and fused into forming the well knit modified system of Rajayoga.

Q: 4- Why don't we find any reference to this in Babuji's books?

KCN: If you read the Part 2 of the Autobiography of Rev. Babuji you will get to know more about the Master of his Master in the context of forming a new system of Yoga. This book is not published in its original form by SRCM (Charis’). It was published in 3 volumes by the family of Rev. Babuji and may be available with SRCM Shahjahanpur. I had a talk with Dr. Srivastav few days back and he is of the opinion that this may be reprinted soon.

K.C.N: Brother Christian also sent me the address sited in this mail. I am busy with my work and do not like to spend time on these matters of historical interest. The transmission in the system has its origin in the Centre and that is not the access of the Master of the Grand Master. Discovery of the Central region is something that was totally new and none of the Sufi Orders had access upto that during their life time including the saints of the Naqshabandi order (and even saint Kabir).

Hello from an old ex abhyasi....

I am another ex abhyasi of Sahaj Marg, where I passed more than 20 years of my life, beginning at the time of Babuji. The first years of practice were for me positive and for this reason, I am grateful to Babuji and Chari. Unfortunately, these last years, I have started to be in crisis.I felt very sad and I did not recognized (believe) what I saw and heard, I had impression of choking and well on, I felt guilty during 3 years (I am not up to the mark, I am not good a abhyasi etc...) and finally, after long suffering, I have succeeded in releasing myself from my direction of culpability and be on my way, this, after I sought a long time, and everywhere another way possible which would be appropriate to me, which was not easy, as you will appreciate.

If I write today, it is only to encourage those who would like, but do not find the courage to cross the step towards the fresh air! By experiment, I know that it is hard. It is said to you that you will lose your condition (which condition?), that it is your ego which takes the top, one cannot betray Master like that, one will make him suffer... etc... Surely, one needs a minimum of courage to cross the step and to dare to call in question what one lived all these years, but if one considers all the sadness which one feels, the culpability, the direction of smothering, the impression which one does not go upwards any more but that one is spread out horizontally in the materiality... if there is a TRUE SPIRITUAL RESEARCH, one cannot continue to commit suicide with small fire like that!

At the beginning, in my opinion, the way to the top was open, but today, where is it? Where is the spirituality? It is not we (the abhyasis) who changed and who do not have any more a spiritual aspiration, in fact the SRCM has Changed and does not carry out us any more where we wanted to go. AND if the SRCM changed, who changed? Those that manage it, unfortunately! Where is the love? Where is humility? Surely not in the continual requests for money and with the expansions and the financings! But I can assure you, that beyond Sahaj Marg, there are other things! There is life and also Spirituality! And even spiritual purity, the purity which I did not hope for to find any more, it still exists, in some recesses of the sphere, with some discreet and humble Master, who does not make publicity and still lives in the greatest of simplicity.

It seems to me that many abhyasis remains only by fear. If you feel the necessity to leave, DARE! What do you have to lose? Nothing! But everything to gain! Sahaj Marg is not UNIQUE, like someone said to us and re-said! The divine would not be so miserly, and be lavish only inside the SRCM? I also often heard: yes, but there, there is not the transmission! The transmission, (You know I think that Sahaj Marg derives from the Sufism which Lalaji inherited from his Sufi Master (see book published by the SRCM in July 2001 "the complete works of RAM Chandra- Lalaji Maharaj volume II). In Sufi practice, there is the transmission (nothing new (unique) thus!) and the transmission was apparently used at the time of the first stages of the Sufi spiritual practice (see book of Thomas Dahnhardt: "Change and continuity in Indian Sufism). Afterwards, they pass on to another thing. Therefore, the transmission is useful, but until where? And from which level does it emanate? Are there not other more subtle and/or lower forms of transmission too? All is relative!

Babuji said that if a disciple is not convinced that his/her Master can bring him/her to God, she/he has the full right to go towards another Master.

To return from there to the sufi lineage, it is common and normal that each Master generates one (seldom) or several lines. Therefore, Sahaj Marg, (moreover, the term "Sahaj Marg" derives from the medieval tradition of the “Sant” in India) the branch called Sahaj Marg by Babuji, is a branch or subbranch among so much of others of the same trunk, already highly ramified.
On this subject, I highly recommend to those who read English to reading the book by Thomas Dahnhardt, university researcher at the center of Islamic studies of Oxford and teacher of Urdu literature and Islamic civilization in India at the university of Venice, this book is entitled “Exchange and Continuity in Indian Sufism”.

According to Dahnhardt, another small detail would have escaped us (if his information is exact): Babuji would not be called Ram Chandra but Madhe Mohan Lal and would have then taken the name of his Master Ram Chandra of Fategarh. One hid many things from us!

In the moment one speaks about money, corruption, degeneration, etc… and it is undoubtedly important to open one's eyes to all that, to discover the “hidden truths”…, that helps us to get our feet grounded and to re-assess, to find a little humility… but the principal problem is SPIRITUALITY!

And it would be the most important question to bring up, because if Sahaj Marg exists, its first and single reason for existence is or should be Spirituality!

Therefore, the spirituality, the true one, naked, stripped down, the essential one, which carries one to God… does this spirituality still exists within Srcm?

Can one still evolve spiritually as a practitioner of the Sahaj Marg of today, up to the ultimate goal?

We point out that Master can carry us where he is himself, but not beyond.

Let us try to feel from the bottom of our heart if we are convinced that the current Sahaj Marg current can carry us to fusion with the divine ONE, where the ego does not exist any more?

Let us not try not to save something that is already dead or at the end of its life?

Material development and numerical expansion have nothing to do with spirituality and the fact that there are many disciples and good financial resources does not mean that spirituality consequently healthy! Often, it is the opposite!

It is always Madeleine, ex-abhyasi with more than 20 years of Sahaj Marg behind her !

I wanted to add a precision to what I wrote yesterday.

Therefore, now, it is known that Sahaj marg is a branch of a quite large and bulky tree!

But, sometimes, a branch of a tree withers and dies. It withers and dies when the sap does not arrives there no more!

The substance, its paramount food, for one reason or another (for us to try to understand the reason), begins to lack and it ceases feeding it!

Then, when the substance, the sap is suddenly lacking, one tries to fill this vacuum by creating other foods of a different nature. And then, it gives birth to newsgroups, workshops, training course, here and there, constructions of ashrams, schools, hospitals (even if the latter are apparently creditable), but it is always to fill the vacuum!

One makes makes the people of Sahaj Marg believe that these initiatives are very important, because (they say) the people should be occupied! Mentally and materially, because the people (abhyasis) should not think any more and do not have to remember how they have arrived here in the first place, and what it was they had come to seek with a trustful and hope-filled heart!

And as the people should not think any more, one requires of him a blind faith by publishing for example a book dictated from the great beyond! (either one believes in it, or one is practically lost!) (to be noted that in the spiritual traditions, it is known that one should not believe without having direct experience, because that does not make sense, and that Chari himself, 20 years ago said to us that it was necessary to listen to one's own heart and to follow the interior voice if it was in contradiction with what the same Master said)

Here, in my opinion, is the root of this sad story!

The substance is gone from there, because whoever was lavishing it is not up to the measure to distill it any more, and everyone is falling into the trap of filling on food made from substitutes!
And then, careful!! It is not without risks to be on a branch which withers!: The small leaves which are attached there wither too! And often, they do not realize it!!

To conclude, I announce you the existence of a small and singular book, allotted to Kabir (Kabir was considered by Babuji the person who had reached the highest spiritual level of all the latter-day saints ). This book is very well known in India and strangely unknown in our lands. In India, there are tens of versions, and I believe that one can find it on the Internet or buy it via Amazon.com… This small book, rather surprisingly, really draws one to reflect on this great mystery of spirituality and to locate Sahaj Marg and to understand at which spiritual level the various paths may have their origins,

During the years of our permanence at the SRCM, and still at the time of Babuji, some among us already knew of the existence, in the north of India, of 5 or 6 groups of disciples or descendants of disciples of Lalaji, who had gone on their own way, without recognizing Babuji as the successor of Lalaji.

We also knew, from the autobiography of Babuji that somebody had tried to put sticks in his wheels, until they managed to try to put an end to his days.

At that time, we were satisfied with the path which we followed and we did not have any curiosity to test it more. Moreover, the environment which reigned within the mission, consisted of a significant “self-contentment”: we were the only ones to benefit from the transmission (!), our Master was of a level such that any being of this level would not have been incarnated for a few thousand years (!), probably, HE was the Special Personality (?), without also speaking of the fact of eventually possibly being a preceptor (!).

And thus, these disciples of Lalaji who had not recognized Babuji, which, for us was the single legitimate successor, were seen at most with commiseration and sufficiency. As would say Christian, we belonged to the "arrogant stupid"!

A few years later, especially after 99 and particularly after the centenary of the birth of Babuji, we started to not find any more what we had always sought, i.e. that we feel that the access path to the top, towards the divine ONE was not open any more, and considering the type of "horizontal Material" expansion that the mission developed, we started to try to understand a little more the origins of Sahaj Marg, with an aim of finding another way which could be appropriate to us, hoping that there is still a movement with the same origin, in which spirituality would still be alive.

At the time of this research, one of the first elements which retained our attention was a film (or rather 2 films) of Arnaud Desjardin, filmed in 1973 in Afghanistan and titled: “Sufis of Afghanistan masters and disciples” and “In the Midst of the Brothers” (Trade Wind Production).

By seeing these 2 films, we could note that they also used a "transmission" and that they worked with the same points of the area of the heart as in Sahaj Marg, that they had sittings and the analogy was really obvious.

I wrote to Arnaud Desjardin at length on these Masters. He answered me that, unfortunately, the majority of them had disappeared, died or hiding, since the Soviet invasion.

After which, I went (literally) in search of a book of which I had had some indications and who would have proven what I thought on the Sufi originof Sahaj Marg. This book is: “Lakshvedhi Genealogy”, the genealogical chronology of the saints, before and after Mahatma RAM Chandraji Maharaj de Fatehgarh (Lalaji), in the order of Naqshbandia Mujaddidia, written by B.B Basuk (first edition in Hindi in 1973, third English edition in 1985).

I noted thereafter that Dahnhardt had inserted it in the bibliography of his book.

Here is some information drawn from this book, with the benefit of the doubt, for sure, because Indian research and the talks are often not very clear, already only by the simple fact that they often allot to the same person, several different names…:

- first point: the Sufi origins of the Sahaj Marg was confirmed there. Basuk declares that in 1984, he had been invited to Madras in April 29 to May 1 for the 85ème birthday of the birth of Babuji and that he had contacts with abhyasis and preceptors of the Mission. Therefore, in the SRCM, some knew him and some undoubtedly knew of his research!

- Another point: With the death of Lalaji, Babuji would have continued to very often attend the satsang of Shri Chaturbhuj Sahaj in Matura and that of Shri Krishna Lal in Sikanderabad, these two last being apparently two of the legitimate representatives and successors of Lalaji (heir). (Krishna Lal would have been named successor of Lalaji in 1921, therefore 10 years before hiss death)

- Last point: this reading, for the first time, put us in front of the fact, for us difficult to accept, that Masters can have more than one legitimate successor and that that is completely normal and natural.

Indeed, with regard to this last point, in the past and still today of the times, it was completely normal that Masters send, before his death, his best disciples, to work each one, in a different geographical area. And it is what Lalaji would have done.

Just as it was normal for a disciple to follow several Masters along his/her spiritual journey, Masters being at different levels, and it was also sometimes the Master himself who sent his disciple to another Master, to carry on with his/her path. All was very open!

And it is also what Lalaji would have done, as a disciple, starting with Sufism could have continued with the practice of Sant Mat. And this without making one feel guilty nor “to betray” whoever!

Today, all these ramifications can perhaps allow each one of us, to find what is more appropriate for each one and, if one believes in it, one can think that each one of us is sent where one must go!

Let us recall that if the way that one follows is not the right one, one does not go far, even if one often believes that one went far! The problem arises only when one successor declares himself as being the single legitimate successor!

At this point, I would like to highlight some “inaccuracies” which were reported by Babuji on the origin of Sahaj Marg and which are still in vogue within the SRCM. It should be remembered that, from Lalaji's death to the foundation of the SRCM and the arrival of the first disciples of Babuji, more than 10 years had passed… one knows that time erases all and causes all to forget…:

- Lalaji would have had a Master and perhaps more one

- The partly Sufi origin of the system is, today without any doubt

The writings of Lalaji have not disappeared, as in the fable of the SRCM, in which one tells us that a servant would have sold all the writings of Lalaji, thinking that they were papers to be thrown away. The writings of Lalaji apparently still exist, were written into Urdu, some were translated into English, but they were never put to our knowledge by the SRCM, if not in 2001, with the book “The Complete works of Ram Chandra-Lalaji- volume II”, but for a short period (considering that it practically disappeared from circulation), also for the fact that it dealt with a quite different teaching from that of Sahaj Marg and where one can understand that the so-called simplification of this latter is no other than the reduction and the amputatation of the teachings of Lalaji.

The practise of spiritual taught by Babuji does not correspond to that taught by Lalaji.

- Lalaji would have named at least 2 successors (heirs)

- Lalaji would not have discovered the central region. This point is most difficult and to speak about it is not obvious! But, in fact, the concept of the central region was taken up again by Lalaji following his contact with Radhasoami (and by reading the preceding radhasoami literature, one can have confirmation of it).

- Along with these “inaccuracies”, one could not miss, to complete the setting, the change of hiss own name to that of hiss Master.

I finish by giving you again the references of the books which, in my opinion, help to better understand all of that, if one wants to go deeper on certain points:

- “The supplements works of RAM Chandra - Lalaji- volume II, consequently published SRCM with 7000 copies in July 2001 and it seems that this book has strangely disappeared from circulation, and it does not seem to be a trace of it nowhere! It has become taboo! The only way to get it is to borrow it from an abhyasi who is or was subscribed for life and who will have received it systematically at the time. In this book, Lalaji starts with his Sufi experience and leads to his experience of Sant Mat, which he largely develops.

- The book of the researcher Thomas Dahnhardt. : “Exchange and continuity in indian sufism “. You will find out many things there about Lalaji.

- “- L' Anurag Sagar. ” “The ocean of Love“ allotted to Kabir. One understands many things there on "why" from masters of various levels! And what these levels are.

- Books of Kirpal Singh (one of the masters beyond Sant Mat): “The Wheel of Life, The Mystery of Death“ and many other books on the site: www.ruhanisatsangusa.org, which gives an much clearer and in-depth explanation than what we could read in Sahaj Marg, on spirituality.

- Baba Sawan Singh (another Master of Sant Mat) (if you succeed in finding them): “Philosophy of the Masters”. 6 or 7 volumes

- “Sar Bachan” of Soamiji Maharaj.
They are difficult to read, but their reading is worth the pain. They are in English.
Well on, they are only books, and they are used to impart some ready made, and prejudged ideas so as better to inform us, but there always remains true that nothing is worth the direct contact with the Masters and/or a valid practice with their (the Masters) assistance.

I allow myself to answer your blog, because I belonged to SHRI RAM CHANDRA MISSION, 1988 to 1992, for 2 years with the Mission of Shahajanpur, not knowing that there was a “Living Master” by the name of Parthasarathi RAJAGOPALACHARI and 2 years with CHARI. There were considerable preceptors in Belgium, since I am Belgian, of which: Carine LEMAITRE, her sister Muriel LEMAITRE and their father GILBERT LEMAITRE; there was also Delphine SALKIN. With regard to the preceptors and the full-preceptors which I remember, in France, I had the occasion to meet: Jacky BARUCK and François DEROULEDE of Paris, Patrick FLEURY of Sanary-sur-mer (VAr) and Madeleine, who also lived in the South of France. I went many times to the Castle of Augerans and I remained in India, in 1991, for 4 weeks, and in 1992, for 7 weeks and I also met“Kasturi” there, which did not make me very impressed, I must say…

And it is after the latter voyage that I began to ask many questions and that I finally understood! And I dropped out, not without sadness and without difficulties… I have many health problems since… I will re-contact you to speak to you about my feelings in connection with true spirituality and about the meditation, if you allow me to! ? !

A sad coincidence, revealing a deep malaise: I receive comments today on two marriages arranged by Chariji. The first comes from a (former?) Abhyasi married to a much older abhyasi and more committed to it (the Mission), the second form Alexis quoting the Master will soon be boasting of 2000 marriages celebrated. I take this opportunity to repeat the recent message of Cricri about this.

I would also like to share with you how recently happened the marriage of the daughter of a friend, as she told me: Chariji asked the girl if she wanted to marry an Indian, because they are better than the Europeans and he said she would have to live in India. She replied that Chariji knew better than what she needed. The same evening, the arranger had submitted an Indian whom she married a few days later. She told her mother that Chariji had decided what was good for her, without asking her anything (no input from the bride).

Good morning,

I have long thought before writing you. Already, I am not always in agreement with your comments and how to deal with Chari, the mission and abhyasis. But it is also true that you touch points and weaknesses that are difficult to hide.

Even if this does not go on with the specific authorization of the mission, today I do feel more concerned by these directives. Selfish approach, exaggerated... I certainly expect such comments from the abhyasis of the Mission and it is also why I prefer to remain anonymous.

A psychologist would say that to write to you is a way to relieve me of my frustrations, which is not true. But I think today that I also have the right to inform those who find themselves in my same situation. Chariji married me (to a Indian man), and he continues to marry others (very) young European abhyasis (sometimes with Indian and very rapidly ...). I read the last message of "cri cri" in which he raised the discontent / dissatisfaction of couples married by Chariji. It would be interesting if he could say more, would it not?

I just severed with a stage of my life, a long and dark period of adjustment and commitment to a Mission that seems less and less spiritual. I have been committed for so long to a routine, a way of seeing things, a milieu which are now finally closed… and which had become my world, my life…. Very young and romantic, I naively decided to make my life with a more mature man and an abhyasi. I had admiration him for his spiritual practice, and I found this way of life a chance that opened before me. Although, what I had not seen or understood was the unsuspected importance that our Master would take in his life and in our lives. For my ex-husband, Chariji was his reason for living and the development of his mission was the reason for him to show (Chari) his love. Instead of seeing a rich and strong relationship being established, it is instead the suffering and frustrations that have accumulated to explode years later with the bitter realizaton of the time wasted. Despite the time I left slip between my fingers I feel liberated today and proud to have been able to open my eyes in time. My life starts again and my future is not assured, what's more I am no longer a young girl. I could no longer continue to live a life influenced by the Mission and that prevented the development of our couple. I loved my husband, but how do I forgive his neglect of me on behalf of his spirituality, and his mission? At one point I was advised to write to Chariji, but he did not respond. My husband later met with him about our problems and he later received us, but his gaze and approach to the situation finished by distancing me permanently. …

Need of tenderness, attention, affection, normal conduct….

I wake up today from a long sleep, which certainly will leave traces in my life as a woman. The intimate relationship with my husband were reserved for breeding, my sense of guilt has always pursued me, and finally the one who regrets and suffered, c'est moi (it is I). Needless to say that my decision to leave my husband was badly perceived by the circle of abhyasis, so I wanted to not be judged mainly by those who watched my suffering. I was even advised by them to take a step back and stay with my husband and my practice to emphasize that my faith in Chariji has never faltered. But how does one ask a frustrated and depressed woman to concentrate on the prayers if it was precisely this practice that had been the reason for my husband to abandon me? I could not just continue as a frustrated woman seeking a spirituality that becomes tired with disappointment and frustration. I would like to see these young abhyasis who without any preparation, unite as husband and wife, and far too quickly, think well before committing themselves, as if their lives were already conditionned with a final choice.

Few days back in my last talks as a wife with Mr xxxxxx, I told him that only thing which was lacking from his side was true love, if he would have loved me as I did, things would have been different, to which he replied that love is nothing and he believes in a different manner and also that he does not believe in the equality of men and women. I was wondering since then that I feel so deeply madly in love with this person who happens to be my husband, who doesn’t value me at all, how can I subside this feeling and was looking and waiting for answers from my Master. With so much of difference in opinions with this man I was all worried and tensed that, is my asking for love and valuing me wrong???? To my surprise my Master gave the answers of all my questions and discussions in his small talk. He emphasized that all relations can only work on the basis of Love. He particularly talked about married life. I felt relieved and happy at the same time. His words acted as an instrument of confidence generation for me.
